The Pulse Cannon, and alternatively called the Plasma Blast, is a move that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics.
Description[]
The Pulse Cannon is an energy cannon attached to a robotic arm. It fires powerful energy beams that allow the user to attack opponents from a distance. The energy beam's color has varied between pink, yellow, orange and green.
Users[]
Dr. Ivo Robotnik[]
While never outright named, Dr. Ivo Robotnik is the earliest user of the Pulse Cannon technique. While stabilizing the growing and expanding Zone of Silence with his Photon Cannon, Sonic the Hedgehog barged in. Robotnik used his Pulse Cannon but missed him, as Sonic proceeded to destroy his machine.[1]
The second and last time he used it was when he invaded Knothole during Operation: EndGame. Rotor Walrus attempted to use his Party-Hearty Quadra Sonic Rock 'N' Roller to eliminate Robotnik right there and then, only to get block by Robotnik's shield. The doctor followed up with his Pulse Cannon and added a quip; "Hmm... quaint. ... But ultimately... inferior."[2]
Bunnie Rabbot[]
The Pulse Cannon was first used by Bunnie during her battle against the roboticized Mecha Sonic.[3] She would later use it again when defending New Mobotropolis from a barrage attack by the Egg Fleet[4], and another time later on when she was pretending to fight Sonic while in Sand Blast City.[5]
Shard the Metal Sonic[]
The Metal Sonic that would become Shard also used this move when confronting Sonic and Tails after the Freedom Fighter Special crashlanded when leaving Station Square.[6]
