Obnotnik is a character that was set to appear in the 1993 DiC Entertainment spin-off Super Sonic Sisters. The nephew of the evil Dr. Robotnik, Obnotnik was intended to serve as an enemy of Monica and Isabelle, constantly trying to disrupt their reporting.

The series was ultimately scrapped and never produced, though the pitch documents were released for preservation purposes in 2023.[1]

Super Sonic Sisters[]

In the proposed Super Sonic Sisters storyline, Obnotnik was intended to be one of the main antagonists. Being the nephew of Dr. Robotnik, Obnotnik would have been a constant thorn in Monica and Isabelle's side. Described as a juvenile delinquent with pull, he was always out to scoop a news story, cast doubt on the twins' reporting, and generally being a pain. However, Obnotnik would often find himself in trouble as a result, and would need to be bailed out by the twins.

In one of the proposed episodes, "Dance 'Til You Drop", Obnotnik would have made an effort to compete against Monica and Isabelle in the Dance 'Til You Drop Contest at Mobius Moon High. To that end, he would have imported the Double-Glint Twins, a pair of new students who are actually robots powered by dancing gas.

Trivia[]

  • "Obnotnik" seems to be a portmanteau of "obnoxious" and "Robotnik".
  • Had the show been greenlit, Obnotnik would have been the second character in a DiC cartoon to be depicted as Robotnik's nephew, the first being Snively from the 1993 Sonic the Hedgehog series.
