The Egg Totem[1] is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was an Eggman Empire facility in the Northern Tundra which was intended as a refueling station for the Death Egg Mark 2.

Description[]

The Egg Totem was a gray tower-like building built to resemble a totem pole, and featuring two pairs of "wings" on its sides, and a representation of Dr. Eggman's face on top of it. The Egg Totem rested on a small iceberg, and ran both through it to the icy waters below, and above it to the skies of the Northern Tundra. At the very top of the Egg Totem lied the Psionic Emitter. The interior of the fortress sported several monitors and control panels, plus a chair and neural interface for directly controlling the Psionic Emitter.[2]

History[]

Past[]

At some point in the past, the Egg Totem was constructed by the Walrus Herd, which were being mind-controlled by Dr. Eggman though his Psionic Emitter. The Egg Totem was intended to serve as a refueling station for the Death Egg Mark 2, which was still under construction in New Megaopolis at the time. Akhult and his Northern Tundra Dark Egg Legion would later control the Walrus Herd with the Psionic Emitter, stationing them as guardians of the above-ground portion Egg Totem, while the orcas defended the underwater section. Later, the Arctic Freedom Fighters would notice the Egg Totem, and send a report to New Mobotropolis asking for assistance in freeing the herd.[2]

Family Matters[]

As a result of the report, Sonic the Hedgehog was sent to lead the Arctic Freedom fighters an assault on the Egg Totem, which involved the group splitting into two teams to attack each section of the tower.[2] While the Freedom Fighters saw little success fighting the upgraded Northern Tundra Dark Egg Legion, Iron Rotor and Silver the Hedgehog arrived, with the former blowing an entryway though the side of the Egg Totem. After entering, Silver used the manual interface for the Psionic Emitter coupled with his psychokinesis to both free the Walrus Herd, and forcing the orcas to retreat. Shortly after, the underwater segment of the Egg Totem was destroyed, causing the whole tower to collapse.[3]
