Birdy[2] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He was a green baby Flicky who once escaped from Dr. Eggman, and befriended Amy Rose.
Appearance[]
Birdy resembled a standard green Flicky, albeit with black eyes, a white belly, a short yellow beak, strands of hair on his forehead, three-toed yellow feet, and no facial markings. For attire, he wore a wooden locket holding by a yellow cord around his neck which had a green hatch.[2]
History[]
A Rose Plucked[]
During his search for Master Emerald shards to power Chaos, Dr. Eggman learned that Birdy possessed a Chaos Emerald, and sent two ZEROes after him. The Badniks chased Birdy to Station Square, where he accidentally crashed into Amy. Amy immediately sympathized with Birdy, and tried to defend him from the robots with her Piko Piko Hammer, only to be captured herself by the two ZERO robots, who curiously then chose to ignore Birdy and his emerald. Noticing Amy's capture, Birdy followed the robots back to Eggman's Egg Carrier, and as such, was imprisoned along with Amy.[2]
Double-Crossed Circuits and Sonic Adventure[]
While in prison onboard the Egg Carrier, Birdy and Amy were met by E-102 Gamma, who was, unknown to Birdy, powered by his own mother, a brown Flicky. The will of Birdy's mother inside Gamma upon seeing her child mixed with Gamma's coding, allowing for the robot to defy his orders from Eggman, and free Birdy and Amy.[3][1] The duo would subsequently escape the Egg Carrier and return to Station Square with help from Tails.[4]
At some point in-between his escape from the Egg Carrier jail and his return to Station Square, Birdy seemingly lost both his locket, and the Chaos Emerald contained within it, under unknown circumstances.[note 1]
Menace to Society and Perfect Chaos[]
Birdy would continue to accompany Amy throughout Perfect Chaos' attack, although he would apparently leave her sometime soon after.[5][6]
Powers and abilities[]
Being a Flicky, Birdy was capable of flight.
