Kaiser Wave (カイザーウェーブ) is Wolfgang Krauser's signature Super Special Move in both the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series.
It is also one of Rugal Bernstein's Special Moves in The King of Fighters series.

Fatal Fury Special - Real Bout Fatal Fury Special | + |
Description[]
The user raises both of their hands in the air and charges up a large projectile. Starting with Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, Kaiser Wave could be charged up for more damage, and even changed color from blue to pink.
This move was originally created by Krauser, but in The King of Fighters series, the move was copied by Rugal, which he uses a normal special move rather than as a super. It is smaller than Krauser's version, but the properties are very similar especially when the 2 versions are pit against each other in The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match. Rugal also leans back further when charging up the attack and thrusts forward in a step when unleashing it as of 98, unlike Krauser.
In The King of Fighters 2002 (and its remake) when used by Omega Rugal, it can even be charged up to four new "Levels", each with its own strength and speed. While Level 1 & 2 have no difference, Level 3 & Level 4 are different projectiles called Divine Arrow (a Special Move originally used by Igniz) & Gravity Smash (one of his Omega form's special moves in both versions of KOF 98), second of which is unblockable.

Trivia[]
- In The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match, Krauser and Rugal both have a special intro where they both fire off a fully charged Kaiser Wave at each other, referencing that both of them use Kaiser Wave.
- Oddly enough, Omega Rugal, despite having no Kaiser Wave in his moveset, also can perform it via the same intro vs. Krauser's Kaiser akin to his base version.
- Another oddity is that if the said special intro between Krauser and Rugal is skipped just as they fire their Kaiser Waves, Rugal's Kaiser Wave will hit Krauser and deal damage, which will start the match with Krauser having already taken damage. Skipping this intro is banned in competitive play because of this bug. This bug was fixed in The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition.
- Unlike the original cast, his projectile animations were directly taken from KOF 96 and were not aesthetically updated to KOF 98 standards. This is evident in the Kaiser Wave's dissipation graphics.
- The same thing is observed with Orochi as well.
- Oddly enough, Omega Rugal, despite having no Kaiser Wave in his moveset, also can perform it via the same intro vs. Krauser's Kaiser akin to his base version.
- In KOF 2002, Neowave and 2002 UM, Omega Rugal has some cybernetic tendrils/power cells/cylinders protruding on his back when he charges his Kaiser Wave as well as in his MAX2, Kaiser Phoenix. Such cybernetic enhancement likely explains why he can charge not only up to 4 levels but also launch different projectiles during his Kaiser Wave sequence as compared to his prior normal self, where his charged Kaiser Wave (full) simply travels faster with more damage & hits.
