Adella is a character who appears in the 1980s cartoon episode, "Stop And Go Smurfs". She is a lonesome girl and princess who yearns for friends.
Adella arrives in the forest while riding in a horse-drawn carriage while accompanied by her servants, Ernst and Madame Hildegarde. They are there for a picnic. After the carriage's driver helps her out of it, Ernst and Madame Hildegarde exit as well. Adella wishes she had somebody to play with when she finds a bell on a tree stump left behind by Painter. The bell belongs to Greedy and Papa Smurf had cast a spell on it to have Greedy, and a few of the other Smurfs, become still when ringing it, so that Painter can finish chiseling statues of the other Smurfs, who form a pyramid, posing for him. Adella shows her servants what she found and requests to bring it back home with her. They allow it and take her back to the castle. As the Smurfs hurry and follow to get it back, Adella rings the bell, making six of them freeze in place. When she rings it again, the six Smurfs continue while Painter and Papa Smurf join them.
Once Adella and her servants are in her room, she rings the bell for them to bring her back two crumpets and two danishes, then she rings it again, changing her order to two crumpets and three danishes. While they go off to fetch them for her, Ernst notices two male servants he hadn't seen before, as he comments. Madame Hildegarde comments on how good help is hard to find these days. The two male servants are revealed to be Witlow and Rogue, who infiltrated the castle with the plan in mind of kidnapping Adella for a ransom. It's not long before Adella gets bored with ringing the bell and laments that she'd trade her toys for a friend. After ringing the bell previously, most of the Smurfs had entered her room before they froze in place again when she rang the bell again. When she turns around and spots them, she thinks they're dolls and wonders where they came from suddenly. Then, Papa Smurf appears before her and she thinks that he's a living doll. He tells her he's actually a Smurf and explains to her that the bell she rang caused most of them to become still like statues. He tells her he needs her to ring it again to have them come alive. She tells him she won't let anything happen to her newfound friends when Witlow and Rogue surprise her with Witlow telling her they'll be her friends. Adella attempts to ring the bell and call Ernst, and Madame Hildegarde, for help, but before they can hear her, the two men cover her mouth and muffle her cry. As they carry her away while she carries Papa Smurf, Painter, and the other remaining Smurfs who were brought back to life, come to their aid.
At Witlow and Rogue's place, Rogue tells Witlow he's almost done with writing the ransom note to Adella's father as she tells them that her dad won't let them get away with this. Rogue tells her how right she is he won't, unless he pays them first. Painter and the other Smurfs find Papa Smurf, who is kept in a cage. Clumsy picks up the bell and rings it when he accidentally trips and drops it, causing most of the other Smurfs to become stationary again. Witlow and Rogue find the other Smurfs near the cage on a table. They decide to destroy the bell by throwing and burning it in the fireplace. Fearing for the Smurfs, Adella tells them the Smurfs won't come back to life again if they do that, but they're not concerned. Painter, who along with Papa Smurf are still unfrozen by the spell, grabs the key to the cage and opens the door to free Papa Smurf. Papa Smurf tells Painter he has an idea. Adella keeps trying to tell the baddies not to harm her friends, but Witlow simply and unsympathetically responds with, "Too bad, dearie". Painter gets their attention and Witlow tells Rogue to grab him as Adella warns Painter to "look out". Papa Smurf runs off to reverse the spell on the bell to get the effect working again. Adella calls Witlow and Rogue worthless, Rogue tells her maybe so, but that will all change once they're wealthy. Witlow notices that Papa Smurf has escaped and asks where he went. Papa Smurf creates a diversion and reveals himself to them, surrendering. He tells Rogue not to ring that bell, but Rogue doesn't listen and does so anyway, making the frozen Smurfs come alive again. Witlow and Rogue are shocked that they'd been tricked, and now they're the ones who end up frozen in place. Grateful and pleased for being rescued, Adella tells the Smurfs she would've never been freed without them. Papa Smurf tells her, "Well, that's what friends are for".
Having returned to her castle, Adella is sad to see the Smurfs deserting her. She asks if they really have to go and Painter tells her they do, as he still has his statue to finish making. Disheartened, she tells them she'll be lonely again. Papa Smurf assures her she has friends around more than she thinks. When the Smurfs see Ernst and Madame Hildegarde coming, they depart from Adella's bedroom window. Ernst and Madame Hildegarde tell Adella they'd been searching the castle for her, wondering where she went, and that they missed her. She explains that she was kidnapped by a pair of men, but she had help from some friends who saved her. Ernst and Madame Hildegarde ask her if she'd like to play with them as Ernst states that he's a master at tiddlywinks. This pleases Adella very much and they spend time together.
