Between the fall of 2001 and spring of 2005, there were several deaths among the students and faculty of Smallville High School. These deaths were caused by a number of different things, with the true cause not always reaching the general public. The following list does not include the deaths of former Smallville High students such as Whitney Fordman (who had already graduated, and was killed in action, while serving overseas in the Marines[1]), Alicia Baker (said to be living in Granville, when she died[2]), and Van McNulty (killed while a patient at the Belle Reve Sanitarium[3]).

Cause of Death: turned to wax by Brendan Nash, who ripped off Haley's head and smashed it over the stairs.[14]
Official Cause: unknown. All left for investigators to find would have been smashed pieces of a wax statue, likely not identified as human remains. It should also be noted that Haley's death happened the day before the 2005 Meteor Shower, which would have distracted the local population (including law enforcement).[14][15] In one case, a murder committed the same day as Haley's, became officially regarded as a death caused by the 2005 Meteor Shower.[16]

Others[]
- Greg Arkin was seemingly crushed in 2001,[17] but turned up alive in 2010.[18] It is unknown if he was believed to have died or run away. Apart from Clark Kent, no one at the 2010 homecoming celebration was shown reacting to his presence.
- Sean Kelvin was encased in ice, after Clark threw him into a lake. Donovan Jamison later claimed that Sean was still alive inside of the ice.[19] It is unknown what the general public of Smallville were told of Sean's disappearance.
- Dustin Crenshaw was left comatose, after being attacked by Jodi Melville, who sucked out all of his body fat. It is unknown if he recovered or passed away.[20]
- Seth Nelson was left comatose in 2003. It is unknown if he ever woke up, remained in a coma, or passed away.[21]
Trivia[]
- The death of Jenna Barnum was the only time that a school memorial was shown onscreen.[22] After the deaths of both Principal Kwan and Travis George, Chloe Sullivan mentions working on a memorial edition of the Smallville Torch.[5][9]
- Ian Randall dies in a deleted scene in the Season Two episode Dichotic. However, that scene is not canon. The Season Three episode Asylum shows him still alive and a patient at Belle Reve.[3]
