Treehouses are structures built into trees, where children can play. They are incluced in The Sims 3: Generations, The Sims 3: Town Life Stuff and The Sims 4: Growing Together.
The Sims 3[]
There are four types of tree houses: Kid's Clubhouse, Sci-Fi Hideaway, The Princess and The Pauper Castle, and Sunny Bungalow Clubhouse that came with Town Life Stuff. A treehouse is considered a rabbit hole as the inside of it is not visible, though Sims can enter it.
Interactions[]
- Children can perform various interactions with the treehouses, including sleeping in them.
- Children can restrict which gender is allowed in the treehouse.
- Children can pull multiple pranks in the treehouse, such as tipping water over the victim's head.
- Young adults, adults, and elders can WooHoo in the tree house, although when doing so they may receive a splinter (and get the negative "Splinter" moodlet).
- Imaginary friends can come up with their friends.
There's a 50% chance Sims will get splinter while WooHooing in the treehouse. Unlucky and Clumsy Sims have higher chance to get splinter (87.5%) while Lucky Sims have lower chance (25%). When Sims try for baby in the treehouse, there's a chance that the baby will have one predetermined trait based on the type of the treehouse, providing the players are unable to choose the traits when the baby is born.
- The Princess and The Pauper Castle: either Snob or Diva[TS3:ST]
- Sci-Fi Hideaway: either Genius or Eccentric[TS3:A]
- Kid's Clubhouse and Sunny Bungalow Clubhouse: either Loves the Outdoors or Adventurous[TS3:WA]

Treehouses make a return in The Sims 4: Growing Together, albeit slightly different in concept. Instead of placing down a fully built treehouse, the player can purchase the Timber! Treehouse Base, and then build it over time. Sims can work on the tree on their own, or they can be joined by other Sims. This is a great way to build up relationships, as well as the Handiness skill. Child Sims can only join the building process, needing parental supervision, and in doing so they build the Mental skill.
While the base treehouse remains identical, a Child or Teen Sim may pick one out of four themes that will each have different homemade-looking decorations; Fairy Tale Castle, Island Castaway, Pirate Hideout, and Space Explorer.
The treehouse has a set number of slots, allowing the player to place specific items such as;
- All kinds of toys
- Toy Boxes
- Telescopes
- Activity tables
- Teddy bears
- Science Sets
- Dollhouses
- Guitars and Violins
- Gaming Mats
- Garden pots
- The Scouting Badge Board[TS4:S]
- The Voidcritter Battle Station[TS4:KRS]
- The Buildems Blocks Play Table[TS4:PH]
- Meditation stools[TS4:SD]
Interactions[]
- Sims aged Child and up can Sleep, Relax, or Nap in the Enclosure, sit on the seats outside of the Enclosure, specify the way they will enter or exit the treehouse (go up or down the ladder, slide down the sliding pole), access light controls for the fairy lights, watch nature,
- Sims aged Teen and up can Upgrade the treehouse, and add a bell, fairy lights, a slide, and a sliding pole depending on their Handiness level.
- Teen Sims can Mess Around with other teens in the Enclosure.
- Sims aged Young Adult and up can Woohoo in the Enclosure.
- Child and Teen Sims can set Decorations, and set admission (kids/teens only or no adults allowed).
- Child Sims can slide down the slide, Play on the treehouse, Play in the enclosure, and Play Pretend (House, Fairy Tale Castle, Island Castaway, Pirate Hideout, Space Explorer, all of which can be played with another Child sim and feature visual "imagination" effects that are only visible when controlling Child sims). When Children play pretend on the treehouse, the music that plays is the theme to the game MySims.
