Rounding interest points[]
Has anyone ever bothered finding out which way the interest points are rounded in The Sims 2? A lot of interest points, as seen in SimPE, are in decimals. But I have no idea whether 3.9 counts as 3 or 4, and whether 6.5 counts as 6 or 5. I find recent Sims with interest tables have their points rounded down to the floor, instead of the nearest integer. I want to make sure which is correct, since otherwise the information about interest points would be inaccurate to many, many Sims. Nikel Talk – Vote! 09:59, January 14, 2014 (UTC)
In case you are still wondering, 6.9 will be shown as 6 in-game, even if it is much closer to 7. The game basically ignores all the decimals and shows just the numbers. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:03, July 17, 2014 (UTC)
- That's true, but the game is far from consistent as to whether it treats a 3.1 or 3.9 as 3 or 4. Sometimes it ignores the decimal, sometimes it goes to the nearest integer, and sometimes it goes up 1. I'm not sure it matters too much for interests except for the range between 3.01 and 3.99, but I'm not 100% sure of how it goes. I think 3.01 - 3.49 is treated as 3, but am not sure about 3.5 - 3.99. Unless further evidence turns up (which seems incredibly unlikely) I can only safely assume that the game simply ignores the decimal and goes to the nearest integer below it (3.9 to 3.0 - rather than 3.9 to 4.0). -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:05, July 17, 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm still wondering about that. When you brought up this discussion back, I was thinking about editors to put the decimal value to the template parameters, and then I'd let the template decide which way it will be truncated. But since you're so sure about it, I guess we'll go with the floor. Nikel Talk – Vote! 11:41, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
Any way of stopping Sim's interests from automatically changing?[]
Does anyone know if there's any way of preventing Sim's interests from automatically changing by means of gaining and losing enthusiasm in The Sims 2: FreeTime? Are there any mods or tips that can prevent Sim's interests from changing without the player changing them manually? On my own PC, I don't have this issue as I don't have FreeTime installed, but I do have it installed on my granddad's PC. It's no big issue at the moment, since I have some old backups, but I know it's going to become a nightmare at some point in the future, especially once I have FreeTime installed on my PC, if I don't have anything to stop this. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 06:23, October 14, 2015 (UTC)
The Sims magazine behavior[]
The interest that reading a magazine drains is not behaving randomly, I can perceive a pattern where an interest drains only from some (seems to be adjacency?) interests and never from others. I'm testing by maxing certain interests, after some tries with 0 interest in 60's, weather and sports, the only way I could drain from money and politics was by investing in weather. Anyone experienced something like this?
