Plot[]
The episode starts out with everyone in the Simpsons’ neighborhood being awoken by Ned Flanders’ trashcan flaring on fire. Over time, Ned gets pummeled and harassed by an anonymous force at first. Once Marge Simpson gets him to talk, Ned reveals that he’s being attacked by the Springfield Mafia.
Before Ned became involved with the mafia, he was fired from his teaching job due to religious reasons. Being desperate, he turned to Fit-Fat Tony, only believing him to be a helpful figure and not a criminal. The mafia begins supporting him with his shop, the Leftorium Express, and Ned starts to make more money. Later on, Ned starts to notice Fit-Fat Tony has some emotional issues, and gives him a stress-relief coloring book, and soon enough, even the mafia begins coloring more. Eventually, Lisa Simpson catches Ned in the Legitimate Businessman's Social Club while out selling candy bars for her school band, and pulls him outside for a chat, where she reveals to Ned that he’s involved with the mafia. Realizing, Ned takes Lisa's word for it, and then Johnny Tightlips steps out, asking about her business, resulting Ned to call Lisa out on her father’s abuse towards him in order to protect her and send her away safely.
Ned soon chats with Fit-Fat Tony, and confronts him about their deal. It escalates, to the point the mafia is about to kill Ned, but he escapes through the first floor window. Later on, the mafia sets his house, then the church, and then Timothy Lovejoy’s train set on fire. Ned then sends his sons to live with their grandpa for temporary safety, and hides in the Simpsons’ attic, resulting Homer and Marge to send their kids to temporary safety at Patty and Selma Bouvier's home.
Later on, Homer Simpson goes to Moe's Tavern for drinks, only to be confronted by Johnny, Legs, and Louie. Johnny and Louie interrogate Homer, threatening him. While this happens, Louie accidentally cuts his neck with his finger-nail, blinding Johnny with some of his blood. Johnny accidentally knocks down Legs, and him and Louie run out of the tavern. Moe helps Homer escape to his car, only to be spotted by Johnny and Louie again. (Yet Legs is suddenly absent and Louie is by now wearing a band-aid on his cut neck) The two capos stalk Homer all the way to his house, and hold him and Marge at gun point, only to learn they can’t find Ned anywhere and then leave Homer and Marge alone.
Ned then decides to confront Fit-Fat Tony one more time, trying to get to his good side. This ultimately backfires, as Johnny and Louie return to kill Ned. Ned is soon revealed to be wearing a wire underneath his fake mustache and the mafia is soon arrested. The episode finishes as people, including the Simpsons, are helping Ned and his sons repair their house and Fit-Fat Tony and Louie are arguing while the mafia (Legs included) are organizing the jail's library books.
