Sky One was a British television channel. It was the oldest satellite television channel in the world.[1]
History
[change | change source]The channel was launched on 26 April 1982 in Norway and Finland as Satellite Television Ltd and was available to around 700,000 homes. The channel offered premium programming not avaliable to other free channels. The channel was launched on 27 June 1983 in the United Kingdom and was later renamed Sky Channel on 16 January 1984.
The main airing times during the 1984 to 1989 era were 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the UK and 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the western region.
On 1 September 2021, Sky One was closed down and replaced by a new tv channel called Sky Showcase.[2]
