Content[]
Summary[]
The drivers are suddenly summoned by Ganma to the Metaverse of the Railway Club. Taisei and the others are made to compete in presentations about the "regional Shinkansen and Shinkalions", and try to convey their charm somehow, but….
A special episode that re-delivers the charm of the Shinkansen and Shinkalions through presentations full of personality.
Plot[]
Ganma gathers all the other drivers together to host a Regional Shinkansen and Shinkansen Presentation Tournament. Everyone has mixed feelings about it, but Taisei is quite excited, and the likely candidate to win.
Shion goes first, presenting Hokkaido’s H5 Hayabusa. It opened in 2016 and connected Shin-Aomori Station with Shin-Hakodate Hokuto Station, eventually will connect to Sapporo, and is connected to Tokyo via the Tohoku Shinkansen. Its emblem depicts a white falcon from Hokkaido.
The drivers reflect on their initial meeting with Shion, where they thought she was a boy, and her use of wrestling moves when driving the H5.
Next is Akane’s presentation on the E6 Komachi from Tokyo to Akita. The E6 can travel at a maximum speed of 320 km per hour, and is made specially to navigate narrow tunnels and curves that other Shinkansen can’t.
Akane also talks about the weapons and combination of the Shinkalion E6. Taisei and Ryota then remember the time they had a fight with Akane, which leads to them arguing more.
Third is Ganma, discussing the E8 Tsubasa which runs from Tokyo to Shinjo Station in Yamagata. The newest Shinkansen, it began operating in 2024. It can run at a maximum speed of 300km per hour.
He talks about the E8’s skill as a sniper, and combination with ERDA Drone, giving it flight. This also leads to reminiscing about the incident when the Railway Club was going to be downgraded.
Ryota then presents the E7 Kagayaki, which runs from Tokyo to his hometown of Tsuruga in Fukui. It was developed in preparation for the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen in 2015, and is said to have a design based on sophistication and maturity, which Ryota likens to himself, though Mai disagrees. The forehead of the Shinkalion E7 also features arrow-like design as depicted on its emblem.
Ryota explains its battle techniques when combined with the ERDA Drill. Mai notes that despite how smug Ryota seems, at first he was worried that he couldn’t become a driver. But she thinks Ryota matured a little because of her, even though he argues it was thanks to his grandfather.
Taisei finally gets to explain the E5 Hayabusa, which runs from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori Station. It combines speed, comfort, and environmental friendliness, and is the fastest Shinkansen, reaching speeds of 320 km per hour. Its long nose is meant to reduce noise, and it has suspension and body shock absorbers to reduce lateral sway.
In combat, Taisei explains how the Shinkalion E5 also excels in speed. However, he admits that it struggled against Phantom. After Taisei’s presentation, Ganma is moved to tears, stating that Shinkalion is wondrous.
Ten gets to go next, explaining the N700S from Nagoya. The Shinkansen with the highest level of performance in all aspects. The “S” stands for Supreme.
Ten also discusses some of his techniques and equipment in battle, and the others remember when they first met Ten in Nagoya, and he brought Piyorin for them.
Morito then explains the 923 Doctor Yellow, which was based on the Tokaido Shinkansen 700 Series. It’s official name is the Shinkansen Electric Track Comprehensive Testing Vehicle, as it’s made to inspect things such as track wrapping, electric current and signal conditions. Its commonly known name comes from the fact that it’s likened to a doctor.
Morito explains how the Great Doctor Yellow form of the Shinkalion is comparable to the Shinkalion SRG. They discuss its first battle against Hades. Taisei also reminisces of the time they road on the Asanarou Railway with Morito. Morito admits it helped him realize the good points of the real world.
Yamato goes next, to explain the 500 Kodama, which runs between Shin-Osaka and Hakata stations, noting its aerodynamic shape and its combination with Jinki in battle. Ganma found Yamato’s explanation easy to understand, mentioning how he expected as much from the winner of the robotics competition.
The group discusses some of the places they visit with Yamato, including meeting the deer.
After that is the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen, driven by Tsukumo, which goes between Takeo-Onsen Station and Nagasaki Station, the N700S Kamome. It was launched in September, 2022, with colors symbolizing Kyushu, and fit for a hot-blooded driver.
The Shinkalion is equipped with the ERDA ferry, due to Kyushu being surrounded by the sea, and is the only Shinkalion made for moving on water. The drivers also think about the places Tsukumo showed them in Kyushu.
After the presentations are over, Mai explains that Ganma was chosen as a member of the Shinkai Academy yearbook committee, which was the reason behind the presenting. He wanted to collect photos and memories related to Shinkalion. But Taisei points out that the Shinkalion is confidential. Thus, it can’t be included in the album. Ganma’s entire plan is ruined.

In the episode[]
Background[]
- The plot of episode features numerous similarities to Episode 33 of the first anime, as both involve a character recollecting memories related to the Shinkalions with others' help for the purpose of featuring them in schoolwork, only to be reminded that the information regarding the Shinkalions is confidential at the end of the respective episodes.
- Ganma's reaction at the end of Taisei's presentation is a reference to Genbu saying the same line after being hit by the E5's Gran Cross.
