The Statue of Pride (敖の立像 Gō no Ritsuzō ) is the name of both a plan devised by "Seeking Researcher" Dantalion and Bal Masqué to fulfill the Grand Order,[1] and the being born from the realization of that plan. It was a grand experiment to create a Crimson Denizen, which could only be born in the Crimson Realm, in this world. It seemed that the completion of this being would bring the fulfillment of the Grand Order closer. According to Professor Dantalion, it was the ideal state of the Psalm of the Grand Order.[2]
The existence that was being born was a giant in plate armor with The Silver, or Tyrant II, as its core. It also had wings on its back as a "special device".[3]
Background[]
The Statue of Pride was formed at the Misaki Clock Tower, with its heart being the Reiji Maigo after the Psalm of the Grand Order was driven into it by Sabrac and it was pulled out of Yūji Sakai, its body being the iron materials of the clock tower, and its brain being the emotions collected by Hecate's Faux Vessel Fumina Konoe. The vast amount of Power of Existence required for the massive undertaking of creating a new existence was drawn from the Fountain of Existence that was once created from Seireiden and Misaki City. This vast amount of Power of Existence was skillfully concealed underneath Misaki City by a portion of Tartaros, which had strong isolating powers.
The Reiji Maigo, the core of the plan, was inserted into the left chest of the Silver, which was enshrined in the deepest part of the Statue of Pride. The Silver moved with what was likely an Aggregate Will created from emotions collected by Fumina Konoe, and it seemed Hecate could control it remotely to some extent. There was high probability that if the Statue of Pride entered the outside world, the world's balance would be greatly disturbed due to its huge body and the vast amount of Power of Existence it possessed that would keep being restored by the Reiji Maigo, causing a calamity the Flame Haze could not overlook.
It seemed that the Aggregate Wills of the Silver and Hecate were synchronized, albeit slightly, and as Hecate had synchronized with Fumina Konoe's consciousness, she shed tears as the Statue of Pride collapsed. Like Seireiden after it had become a Fountain of Existence, inside the Statue of Pride were countless Mass Production Model Domino Rinne.
The Statue of Pride was created on Christmas Eve in the city square. It was nearing completion when Yūji Sakai and Shana, who had infiltrated it, reached the deepest part and began fighting the Silver enshrined there. During the battle, Fumina Konoe's emotions, which were created to be its brain, became erratic. Shana used the opportunity created to destroy the Tyrant's control unit and Yūji was able to take back the Reiji Maigo, causing the Statue of Pride to collapse before it was completed.
The failure of the Statue of Pride experiment may have piqued Snake of the Festival's interest in Yūji Sakai, who housed the Reiji Maigo.[4]
Trivia[]
- As the Statue of Pride's body was formed before a Fūzetsu was cast around it, the Misaki Clock Tower cannot be Restored after the Statue of Pride's collapse. However, there was no mention of this and the Misaki Clock Tower was shown intact in Shakugan no Shana Final Episode 03.
