As requested, Keyring calendar, bigger

I had a request for my keyring calendar, made bigger.  I’ve resized it as specified, four to a page

 

 

ornatex4_jan2april  and you can grab that here! There are no boundary lines so there is a little flexibility on the size.

As it says in the banner, I won’t have time to make and send book folding templates after today.  But there are a number of templates that you might choose from in the menu up top.  While you won’t be able to request specific names or images, generic ones like LOVE, FAMILY, PEACE, JOY, etc are all in there, as are a few full alphabets for you to construct your own template.

I’ll see how things go and will change the banner when/if I start sending them again.

Book folding – single letters

NOTE:  Scroll down to the comments to see another single letter option created by request. Read her comments on how the letterman font worked (or didn’t) for her!

 

I had a commenter ask for a Letterman-style single letter template.  I immediately thought, what a great idea! and the more I thought about it the better it became.

The basic Letterman style letter is a bold, angular letter, outlines in white, with a thin-ish border.

Like so:

You could opt to do the entire letter, with outline:

or maybe just ignore the border folds and do just the inner bit

I suppose you could do just the border part and omit the middle, although I am not sure how that would look.  I can’t quite envision it, but it could end up looking pretty cool.  OR you could ignore the middle bit and fold just the outer lines  – if you doubt your ability to focus on just the outermost lines you might need to connect the lines across the white space.

The only issue with doing the full outlined letter is the size of the book needed!  The A, with border, after a quick and dirty (and probably not 100% accurate, but if anything fewer pages than actually needed) count, is 600 lines – so at least a 1200 page book! I’m thinking a big old school textbook or maybe a dictionary….

Anyway, if you are game, go ahead and download the 26 page set here. Just print the letters you need then settle in with a strong cup of coffee and start counting…..

Last chance to get any requests in – I wont be able to make templates after the 12th, due to some family commitments and the holidays.

CD calendar resized for 2017 and a Christmas surprise!

I had a request for one of my oldest calendars to be updated.  The commenter particularly wanted the three sizes, as before. This was great, because I had been thinking that I had lost a function when I upgraded my Mac OS but it turns out they just moved it!  I hate that.  When we lived in the city, every freakin’ day M&S seemed to move stuff to a new place.  I’d dash in, with a kid or two in tow, rush right to where the milk was the day before and it would be…bacon, or cheese, or fruit.  You just never knew.

But I digress….turns out the ability to automatically resize things by “printing” then saving as a PDF is still there, just not where it used to be.

I can see what I planned, putting a red pompom in the nose area, will work perfectly.  If I could figure out how to add a bulb, maybe a battery operated one, I would love that!

Trees for 2016 – ornaments, tags, whatever.

As I mentioned, I usually do some sort of card that incorporates an ornament.  Most years I do some sort of tree.  The simple version is to print them and stick two back-to-back. The more fiddly, but 3D version is to stick three (or even four) in a ring. The flat one obviously works best if you want to mail it.

These are 3d versions, and I’ve streamlined the process a bit.

After you print and cut three of any set, just crease slightly at the bottom

Just a bit of a pinch is all you need, rather than the full top to bottom centre score

Add a strip of double-sided tape like so, with a fat strip in the middle of one tree

Stick your hanger string/yarn/twine to the fat piece

then stick the sides.  If there is a gap at the top, you can stick a button or a pom-pom or a punched star over it.

Of course you can punch a hole at the top and use them for tags, writing the To: and From: on the back.

The back-to-back sticking is super easy, so very quick for kids!
