Handmade Hugs

Hello, It’s Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls and Sue has asked us to Splash something on our card. I went with the obvious splatter technique. But before I got to the fun part, I watercolored and used colored pencil on my Altenew flowers. I didn’t like the way the bottom of the card looked without the flower being grounded, so I added the extra strip of watercolored paper that I had trimmed off and the MS punch border.  I did a terrible job with the colored pencil and should have left the flower alone, but live and learn.  The splatters helped detour the eyes.  LOL  The sentiment is from MFT. Come check out all the different ways the team was inspired by this challenge.

Square Card

Hello, Boy do I have a CAS card for you today! In fact, it’s so simple I feel as if I am cheating.  It’s for our new challenge over at Seize the Birthday where our topping is Square cards.  The flowers are from SU and the Happy Birthday die is from Memory Box.  The die-cut is one of those purchases that you wish you hadn’t made. Why you may ask…. I don’t use it, plus it’s just way too big in my opinion. I have cut it off of the circle before and that helps a smidgen. The only thing I like about this card is the colors.  I promise that the next post the card won’t be so lame. LOL

I would like to take a minute and thank Su Mohr for being such a fabulous guest! This is her last post with us, and I really enjoyed having her along for the ride.

My teammates did a much better job than I did this time with our topping. So if you are looking for inspiration, head on over to the blog, and I am sure someone there will inspire you!

Take care,  Nanc’

Prayers and Hugs…

Hello, I have a quick and simple card for you this evening for the Less Is More Challenge.  They have asked us to use Stencils one a one layer card.  I have been itching to use my brand new Poppy Bloom stencil from Altenew since I got it. I will say though, I wish it was just a smidgen smaller so that it would fit better on a traditional card front, without cutting off some of the leaves. This is my second recent post for a one layer card! Woohoooo! I am out of my comfort zone once again. The sentiment is from Hero Arts!

Thanks for all the love as of late! It really makes a girl smile!

One Layer

Hello, Over at Addicted to CAS they want us to make a one layer card, so that is what I have for you today!  I just love the look of ink blending using Oxide inks and sticky notes to get a straight edge. It’s quick, easy to do and usually has great results. The stamp set is from SU and I really love it a lot, I just wish it came with dies.  I really want a flamingo set with die cuts, but can’t justify having two flamingos. Do you all feel that way about buying similar stamps twice?

Thanks for the visit and have a great day! Nanc’

Dad or Masculine

Hello, Yesterday afternoon after the chores were completed, I got out one of my favorite SU sets and made a masculine card for a co-workers father.  She said he loves fishing, so I knew that was going to be super easy. Before I went to my studio and went to work, I found that Creative with Stamps had a masculine challenge going on and I thought …SCORE!!  Love when that works out! The label dies and small letters are MFT. This card came together very quickly as it was inspired by this card here!  I made the ovals and circles with a stencil and some SU ink.  I am going to keep this quick and easy design in my arsenal for sure.

Thanks for stopping in,

Nanc’

Gotta Love Tulips!

We have a Photo Challenge over at Just Us Girls that has so much going on you are bound to get inspired by one part or another. It’s always fun to see how different each of the DT members and guest cards are, and how each one of us is inspired differently.  Right away when I saw all the florals on the table I knew I was going to get out one of my old SU sets that I really enjoy.  I was drawn to the color orange and green that is evident throughout the photo and the pattern along the fence at the top of the picture.  That is where my triangular background came to be. I used my white background and scalloped die to pick up the rounded edges of the doilies on the table.  I used gold sequins to replica the round decorations on the fence. I used Copics and Colored pencils as my medium.

Please come by and check out the rest of my teammate’s cards and join us! Nanc’

Friend…

I played along with two challenges this past evening, one was CAS Mix Up where my background was made using a paper towel to stamp with. I love the way the texture of the paper towel made the background turn out. All I did was fold the paper towel, stick it in the Oxide Ink and dab. Then I decided to cut the background into strips for something a bit different.  I added Stamping and watercolors to this challenge.

Next, the butterflies and leaves were watercolored for the CAS Watercolour Challenge where they asked for colorful butterflies.

It was nice to get creative again this week as work has kept me out of the studio as of late.

Card Details:  Stamp set was Pretty Pink Posh, leaves are a Verve Die-cut, rectangle dies are both MFT.

Have a great weekend, Nanc’

Sprays @ CAS Stencil

Hello,  The card I have for you today is for the CAS Stencil Challenge. What they wanted us to do is use Sprays on our project. I got out my Dylusions-Funky Fuchsia spray and my SU line stencil and got messy.  So I don’t make a huge mess, I do mine inside a large piece of construction paper and an opened MFT box as a backdrop….which helps contain it and to keep it from getting everywhere on my work surface.

Here are my card details:  Copics and a bit of colored pencil, Gina K-vases, Stupendous-floral stamp and sentiment, SU-oval die, and MFT rectangles both scalloped and stitched.

Below is a picture of my spray and the piece before I colored it with my Copics. I am in love with BG10. I had to fussy cut my florals.

I pray it’s not too many layers for CAS…fingers crossed!!!

Thanks for stopping in….always appreciated.  Nanc’ .

Still Practicing…

Before I get to the details of my card, I am still in the “Forever” beginning stage of how to color with Copics.  This by no means came out well, however, I did think of a way to take a mediocre card and make it better by using my scallop rectangles.  I am hoping it gave enough added interest to take your eyes off the terrible blending. Did I succeed? LOL. I am still figuring out color families. I decided to leave in sentiment free for now.

This card is for The Flower Challenge where they asked us to use your favorite flower.  Which was nearly impossible for anyone who loves flowers.  I had troubles deciding, so I went with a Favorite “NEW” flower stamp by MFT.  The background was also colored with Copics.

Card Details: Copics, MFT Scalloped dies and Flower stamp, Perfect Pearls, and some fun foam for dimension.
