JUGS Wild Card and Mixed Media

IMG_00055

JUGS204

This week over at Just Us Girls….it’s time for our Wild Card Challenge.

We have a Wild Card Challenge when we happen to have 5 Saturdays in a month.

Marisa is our go to gal this week and she has chosen

“Distressing” as our theme.  Great idea Marisa!!

I just so happen to have recently gotten a distressing tool

from Stampin Up that works great.  Mind you, I have been using the sides of

a pair of scissors for years and it’s worked well…but this is a little safer. LOL

I also think it does a better job.

I am also linking this card to a really fun challenge site called

Mixed Media Color Challenge.  You have to check it out!

Very talented ladies run this site!  Their work is mind blowing!

They are giving away an amazing gift this time!

AMMCC6 Graphic

Here are a few things I did to create this card.

I used a clear block, some moment rose bud ink,

and a spritz or two of water  to create my background

on my watercolor paper.  Love how easy this is!  You just

ink up your block….spritz it with water and stamp!

Then I Heat embossed my dandelion flowers with white embossing powder.

My fence posts or gates were cut out with my Cricut.

I sure hope you can tell what they are….I was worried about this!

They are two fence gates that meet in the middle.

Added some Washi tape and the rest is rather self explanatory!

Hope you have a fantastic long weekend!  I can’t tell you how

happy I am to have an extra day to catch up on some Creative time…..I hope!

I will be back tomorrow with a new challenge from CAS on Sunday!

Happy Birthday Chick!

Hello Friends,

It’s time again for another Seize the Birthday challenge!

We had a great time on our first challenge with the new Design Team

and had over 125 participants!!

Isn’t that AMAZING!!!!

Linky badge

I thought it was time to shake things up a little and make something

different ( at least different for me) and a little fun.

IMG_0015

This is a tri-fold card, and this is what the inside looks like!

I always leave my inside’s blank till I’m ready to send it!

DUH…..I am sure most of us do…LOL!

IMG_0018

The supplies are mostly Stampin Up… including the paper, embossing folder, and card stock.

The letter’s were made with an alphabet set that is a must have!

Punches: scalloped border and circle

I kind of regret making the final chick that I put on the top!

I just free handed it with scissors.

Don’t think it was necessary now though…..Oh well!

Thanks so much for checking in on me…I Soooooo appreciate it!

Please head on over to STB and see what my Talented Team Mates are up to!

Here are the links to get you started!  I sure hope you will join us!

It’s so simple, all you have to do is keep it a Birthday theme!

Maybe we can even beat last week’s count!!!

Seize the Sketch

I have been wanting to play with Seize the Sketch since it’s inception

and I finally found some time tonight to sneak into the studio and

be productive.  HOWEVER, I may have gotten a little carried away with the

sketch and stretched it a little far.  YIKES!

Here is the sketch followed by my

card and I will explain.

STS-#2_01

IMG_00061

After I placed my sweet little elephant on my card and

photographed it, I looked at it again and realized I wasn’t

quite happy with it and it felt like it was missing something.

So I decided to add the flag. ( placement is eeh!)

I do believe it makes the card feel more balanced and complete,

I also feel I may have stretched the sketch to far.  So ladies

I understand if you feel this is a little bit to much for such a

a basic sketch.  I soooooo understand!!!

I am also linking it up to 2 other challenges.

Crazy 4 Challenges

(to use an animal)

C4C-blog-button4

and “ABC” Challenges

(No flowers this time!)

ABC challenge badge 2013

The sentiment is SU.

The elephant is from Verve.

Used my Cricut and Cuttlebug.

SU lattice embossing folder.

 Scalloped border and circle punches.

Fussy cutting with scissors!

Have a wonderfully creative day,

Your comments and your encouragement along the way

have given me a sense of purpose and happiness

to do a giveaway or Blog Candy as everyone calls it!

To keep it interesting I am going to make the

I promise it will be great!  It will have a little of this and a little of that!

Why not share some of your supplies that are being neglected to someone else!

That’s my motto!

Freshly Made is having a Celebration!

FMS1

I have been a long time follower of Freshly Made Sketches and they

are celebrating their 100th Sketch this week!!!

Congrats to the FMS team past and present!!

Woohoo!!

I have a celebration of my own this week, but more about that in

a day or so!!!  Hope I peaked your interest to come back and see what it is!

No hints either…LOL!

Anyhoo,

Today’s card has been a work in progress.  I don’t think my mojo was quite

awake this morning when I attempted for the 3rd time to finish this card,

at least that’s the story I am sticking with!

It seemed to get better as the day progressed, I am happy to say!

IMG_0019

Every time I put a ready made flower on my card….I call myself a cheater. LOL

I also, realized I put my candy gems from SU in the wrong place…  :/ ugh!

Here are a few details:

DP is from Basic Grey.

Sentiment is Michaels….it’s only a part of the entire greeting.

Used MS punch to make the rest of my flowers and the scalloped border is SU.

The stems were made with my Cricut!  Love them…I use them a lot!

Lattice embossing folder is from SU.

Hope your having a great day!

Thanks for stoppin’ in!

Inspiration time over at JUGS~

Hello friends,

School is back in session and this Chic is wiped out!

It’s going to take me a couple of weeks to get back to this

5 days a week and then some… work sort of thing!

Plus, my son left for college again on Wednesday

so it’s back to that empty nest feeling again.

Let me just say, I don’t like it very much at all!!

Hubby and I were spoiled this summer having Ty

here since the middle of May.  SIGH!!!

Anyhoo, speaking of school!

Tangii has a great inspiration photo for us this week over at JUGS!

JUGS203

This is what I did with it!

IMG_0006

One of my teacher’s at school gave me this awesome sticker set last year

because she knew I loved to scrapbook.

I found it the other day as I was setting up my room

and thought this would be perfect for my card for JUGS!

So, I have a mixture of stamps, die cuts, and ink on this card.

I must admit I felt as if I was cheating using those stickers!

The paper is a stamp from Verve.  The sentiment is SU.

I distressed the card stock, the apple and the stem a little bit,

but looks as if I should have done more!  I thought the white pen

was a nice touch at the end!….and of course a ribbon!

I am also linking this up to the back to school challenge over at

The Friday Mashup!

Sure hope you join us this week over at Just Us Girls for our

Inpsiration Photo Challenge!

help get you started with some inspiration!

For the Love of Polka Dots…

Hello Crafters!!

It was my turn to post a project over at

The Crafty Card Gallery this month.

crafty-card-gallery DT

Jennifer had asked us to incorporate Polka Dots.

That was a great challenge for me because…..

Polka Dots are very near and dear

to my heart because my mother LOVED them!

So any time I see them, especially on clothes,  I think of her!!

So I incorporated my mom’s love for dots and how much

I love her, miss her, and think of her on my card itself.

What I have done here, is taken two pieces of ribbon and

glued them in behind the negative part of a heart that I cut out using my Cricut.

(Make sure the ribbon is tight.)

To give it some stability and so that you can’t see through it,

I adhered it to another piece of white cardstock to give it a backing.

Trimmed it out with some Pool Party and Basic black paper.

Added a MS heart border punch to a strip of black to add some interest.

The sentiment is from Close to My Heart.

And finally, I took the sentiment and punched it out with a great

SU Modern label punch, and bordered it 2 more times.

This is a great trick.  Punch out the label punch again

and then cut it in half and put it on opposite ends.

All you see is the ends anyway and it looks like one

continuous piece.  If that doesn’t make sense….drop me a

comment and I will explain it better.

I used this interesting sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch and these

great colors from Dynamic Duos to spark this card!

CTS_Sketch_41

DD#66

This card was a lot of fun to create!

Thanks for your continuous support….and make sure you

stay tuned because  I see a Blog Candy Giveaway in the very near future!

Craft Your Heart,

Monochromatic at Just Us Girls

JUGS202

Over at Just Us Girls this week…the ever so talented Vicki has

challenged us to a great color challenge .  Your card or project must have

a basic  theme of Monochromatic Blue, but you may add a neutral as well.

I had a hectic week back to school this week, so my card is rather simple!

I never have enough masculine birthday cards laying around,

so thanks Vicki for the color choice!

IMG_0010

I have had this piece of Design paper forever, and it worked so well for this challenge.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Now…..

Please jump on over to the JUGS blog and join us this week…we would love to see

what you do with this challenge!  You can stop by my wonderful teammates blogs

and see what they have designed for you as well!

Hope you have an amazing weekend either creatively or how
ever you wish to spend it!
