Before Saw: The Video Game[]

  • Daniel Whitehurst's father commits suicide due to his mental illness, causing his son to build the Whitehurst Insane Asylum.
  • The Whitehurst Asylum's construction is completed by the end of March 1885. The facility opens on June 2, 1885.
  • Due to the building settling onto the foundation, the asylum suffers some minor damage in 1897.
  • During an accident caused by a damaged boiler seal, one of the Asylum's staff members, Bruce, is heavily injured and nearly loses an arm.
  • Daniel Whitehurst II. takes on the asylum's management. Under his leadership, many of the patients are neglected and have to endure experimental medical methods, including isolation treatment, sympathectomies and more, which causes the death of several inmates.
  • Due to the patients demanding a religious area, a chapel is build in the Asylum's courtyard.
  • As part of the MKULTRA project, the Whitehurst Asylum is granted supplies of a new drug called LSD by the government's Technical Services Division and starts to test it on so-called John Doe patients.
  • The asylum's management is taken on by Daniel Whitehurst III and later Daniel Whitehurst IV.
  • As a result of a mental breakdown at the age of 19, Lawrence Gordon is committed to the Whitehurst Asylum for six month.
  • Due to serious financial problems, Daniel Whitehust IV orders many of his patients to be transferred to other facilities while also discharging volunteer patients. Some of the staff members assumingly take on new jobs at the Umbrella Health Insurance Company.
  • Seth Baxter is convicted to a life sentence for murder.
  • While intoxicated, CSI officer Jennings Foster kills a homeless man in a hit and run accident.
  • When Detective Tapp investigates the accident, Jennings frames an innocent man, resulting in the latter's imprisonment.
  • The K2K gang tries to expand their territory beyond the 118th street of the international district, which results in a gang war with the yakuza.
  • The yakuza kidnaps and executes most K2K members and drape their bodies across the 118th street.
  • Detective David Tapp and Detective Steven Sing work together for the first time to investigate on the gang murders.
  • John Kramer founds a company called Gideon, which is dedicated to the creation of new housing for needy families.
  • Jill Kramer becomes pregnant. Her son is planned to be named Gideon.
  • Amanda Young persuades Cecil Adams to rob the clinic, which results in him inadvertently slamming a doorknob into Jill's stomach and thereby causing a miscarriage.
  • Following Gideon's death, John suffers from severe depression, causing him to withdraw from both his wife and his business partner, Art Blank.
  • Dr. Lawrence Gordon diagnoses John with an inoperable brain tumor.
  • John attempts to commit suicide by driving his car over a cliff, but survives, despite being heavily injured and therefore decides to spend the rest of his life on testing other peoples' will to survive.
  • John separates from Jill, causing her to revert to her maiden name Tuck.
  • John abducts Cecil Adams and forces him into his first trap.
  • Cecil survives, albeit heavily injured, but dies when he attempts to attack John and thereby falls into a cage full of razor wire. After bleeding out, John cuts a jigsaw piece from Cecil's skin.
  • Chief Henry Jacobs founds a task force with David Tapp as its leader to investigate Cecil Adams' death.
  • Due to the jigsaw piece cut from Cecil's body, the police give the murderer the nickname "Jigsaw Killer" or simply "Jigsaw".
  • Dr. Lawrence Gordon starts to have an affair with his medical trainee, Carla Song.
  • The police finds Mitsuka Ito and Ronnie Navarro's corpses.
  • Due to procedural errors, Seth Baxter is released from prison after five years.
  • Paul Leahy unsuccessfully attempts to commit suicide by cutting his wrists.
  • Detective Mark Hoffman abducts Seth Baxter and puts him into a trap. Due to the trap being manipulated, Seth has no chance to survive even after solving his task, which results in him being killed by a giant pendulum in front of Hoffman's eyes. After that, Hoffman cuts a jigsaw piece from his victim's skin in order to make the murder appear to be another one of Jigsaw's tests.
  • Jigsaw puts Mark Wilson in a trap, resulting in the latter's death. Afterwards, he places a penlight with Lawrence Gordon's fingerprints at the crime scene.
  • Jigsaw puts Paul Leahy in a trap, resulting in the latter's death.
  • John Kramer abducts Amanda Young and Donnie Greco, forcing the former into another one of his tests. Donnie is killed by Amanda in order to get the key for her trap from inside his body, making Amanda the first person who survived one of Jigsaw's traps.
  • The police finds Mark Wilson and Paul Leahy's corpses and thereby discovers Dr. Gordon's penlight.
  • Detective Tapp and Detective Sing confront Dr. Gordon and take him to the police station.
  • Dr. Gordon claims to have been with his student, Carla Song, at the time of Mark's death which she confirms. After his alibi is confirmed to be true, he witnesses the interrogation of Amanda Young.
  • Globe Staff writer Oswald McGillicutty publishes several articles about the police department's supposedly sloppy work and repeatedly depicts them and especially Tapp as being incompetent.
  • John abducts Jeff Ridenhour.
  • By investigating Jigsaw's video tape from the crime scene of Amanda's game, Detective Tapp and Detective Sing discover Jigsaw's hideout in an abandoned mannequin factory on 413 Stygian street.
  • Detective Tapp and Detective Sing enter the factory without a search warrant and find Jeff Ridenhour in a trap.
  • Jigsaw enters the hideout and starts Jeff's trap, forcing the detectives to act quickly.
  • While Sing destroys the trap and saves Jeff, Jigsaw slashes Tapp's throat and flees. On his pursuit, Detective Sing walks right into a booby trap and dies.
  • Jigsaw calls and ambulance, which saves Detective Tapp.
  • Following his partner's death, Tapp suffers a mental breakdown. Detective Hoffman and Detective Kerry take over the lead position on the case.
  • After leaving the hospital, Tapp calls his ex-wife Kara to ask her why she didn't visit him. Instead of her, his son, Michael, picks up the call and tells his father he has problems finding a job at a newspaper publisher. He asks his father for some exclusive information on the Jigsaw case, which Tapp denies.
  • Jeff Ridenhour unsuccessfully tries to commit suicide after being harassed by Tapp.
  • Tapp sets up an audio recording and confesses to have invaded Jigsaw's hideout without a search warrant.
  • Tapp puts Jennings Foster under pressure by demanding information about the progress of the Jigsaw investigations, but is interrupted by Detective Kerry.
  • Michael visits his father and steals his files of the Jigsaw case as well as the audio tape containing his confession.
  • Michael publishes the truth about the raid on Jigsaw's hideout in a newspaper article for the Herald.
  • Henry Jacobs discharges Tapp from the police force.
  • Chief Jacobs blackmails Sarah Blalok into spying on Tapp to find out if he knows about the cartel.
  • Obi Tate puts up a newspaper advertisement and asks Jigsaw to be tested by him.
  • David Tapp, calling himself "Bob", hires the photographer Adam to observe Dr. Gordon.
  • Adam agrees, observes and takes photos of Dr. Gordon.
  • John Kramer abducts Zep Hindle and forces him to participate in his next test.
  • John Kramer abducts Adam Stanheight and Dr. Gordon and takes them to a dilapidated industrial bathroom, where they have to play one of his games.
  • John stays in the bathroom and poses as an allegedly dead body.
  • Dr. Gordon and Adam awake and their game plays out, leading to Gordon failing his task to kill Adam until 6:00 o'clock.
  • Zep forces Alison to call Gordon to tell him about his failure, but gets into a fight with her, resulting in a shoot-out.
  • Tapp enters Dr. Gordon's house, offering both Alison and Diana a chance to flee.
  • While listening to the shoot-out, Gordon suffers a mental breakdown, leading to him sawing off his own foot and shooting Adam in an attempt to kill him.
  • Zep reaches the bathroom and tries to shoot Dr. Gordon in order to complete his own test but is overpowered by Adam who survived the gunshot and smashes the aggressors head with a toilet lid.
  • A heavily injured Dr. Gordon promises Adam to come back with help before crawling out of the bathroom.
  • While searching Zep's corpse for a key for his shackle, Adam find's Zep's instruction tape, revealing that Zep himself was also just a victim of the real Jigsaw.
  • John Kramer stands up, revealing to Adam that the key for his shackle lies inside the bathtub. Upon realizing the key went down the drain when he woke up, Adam starts to panic and tries to shoot John who subdues him and leaves him to die alone in the bathroom.

Saw: The Video Game[]

  • John finds Tapp and takes him to the abandoned Whitehurst Insane Asylum, where he treats his wound and hides a key inside his body.
  • Tapp wakes up with a Reverse Beartrap on his head, but manages to remove it and moves on to face a series of tests.
  • Tapp finds Amanda Young and saves her from another trap.
  • Amanda is abducted by Pighead, Jigsaw's accomplice.
  • Tapp finds Jennings Foster and saves him from a trap.
  • Tapp learns the truth about the hit-and-run accident Jennings was involved in and is abandoned by the latter.
  • Melissa abandons Tapp and is subdued by Pighead, who sews her mouth shut and gives her an audio tape, which informs her that she has to oversee Tapp's game until 6:00 in order to save her son, Franklin, who has been abducted as well.
  • Tapp finds Oswald McGillicutty and saves him from a trap.
  • Tapp finds Obi Tate and saves him from a trap.
  • Obi Tate abandons Tapp for ruining his game.
  • Tapp finds Jeff Ridenhour and saves him from another trap.
  • Jeff Ridenhour abandons Tapp.
  • Tapp kills Pighead in self defense.
  • Tapp faces his final test and has to choose whether to continue his hunt for Jigsaw or to let go off him and save all the other victims still trapped at Whitehurst.
  • Tapp chooses to release all remaining prisoners from the asylum.
  • The newspapers of the city label Tapp as a hero and restore his reputation.
  • Jeff Ridenhour commits suicide.
  • Tapp is the only guest at Oswald McGillicutty's funeral.
  • Tapp commits suicide in his apartment.

Saw II: Flesh & Blood[]

  • Henry Jacobs, Joseph Poltzer and Jennings Foster investigate Tapp's apartment, while Michael Tapp is present as well.
  • Michael and Solomon Bates wake up in one of Jigsaw's traps. While Solomon escapes, Michael is offered a second chance and has to face a series of tests.
  • Michael finds a rapist named Griff in a trap.
  • Michael finds a pedophile named Zeke and saves him from a trap.
  • Michael finds Henry Jacobs and saves him from a trap.
  • Zeke loses his hands due to his injuries and replaces them with blades. Seeking revenge on Michael, he goes after him.
  • Michael engages in a fight with a man named Patrick and kills him in self defense.
  • Michael listens to a conversation between Henry Jacobs and Joseph Poltzer, in which Henry orders the latter to kill Michael.
  • Michael is attacked by Henry Jacobs, but manages to escape.
  • Joseph is subdued and put in a trap.
  • Michael finds Sarah Blalok and saves her from a trap.
  • Sarah abandons Michael and the two of them make their way to an abandoned chemical plant.
  • Michael finds a mercenary named Anton and saves him from a trap.
  • Michael is attacked by Henry Jacobs once more, but manages to escape again.
  • Michael finds Joseph Poltzer and saves him from his trap.
  • Joseph Poltzer abandons Michael.
  • Michael helps Sarah Blalok to escape a trap.
  • Sarah Blalok is abducted by Pighead II.
  • Michael engages in a fight with a man named Dwayne and kills him in self defense.
  • Michael is attacked by Zeke, but manages to escape.
  • Michael finds Carla Song and saves her from a trap.
  • Michael engages in a fight with a man named Chuck and kills him in self defense.
  • Michael is attacked by Zeke and kills him by luring him into a trap.
  • Michael engages in a fight with a man named Donovan and manages to overpower him.
  • Henry Jacobs kills Carla Song.
  • Michael finds Solomon Bates and saves him from a trap.
  • Solomon Bates tells Michael the truth about the drug cartel.
  • While trying to flee from Michael, Solomon Bates is pushed into a pit filled with thousands of syringes by Pighead II.
  • Joseph Poltzer kills Sarah Blalok as she is about to reveal Pighead's identity to Michael.
  • Michael engages in a fight with a man named Robert, but escapes unharmed.
  • Michael engages in another fight with Donovan and kills him in self defense.
  • Pighead II kills Henry Jacobs.
  • Michael engages in a fight with Joseph Poltzer and kills him with his own gun.
  • Michael and Campbell face the last part of their respective tests, which only one of them can survive.
