"World Shaking" is a powerful Solar wind-based attack that Sailor Uranus uses in all versions of the series in which she appears. It is her first attack in the manga, 90s anime, crystal, Sera Myu, and video games.

Manga[]

Sailor Uranus first uses World Shaking at the end of Act 29 to kill Mimete. The attack appeared as an energy blast that was shot towards the enemy. Soon after, she uses it in Act 30. to knock out Usagi.

The attack makes an appearance in The Lover of Princess Kaguya short story, and when the Outer Senshi reappear in Act 45 of the Dream arc she uses it to save the Inners from the Amazoness Quartet.

Anime[]

In the anime, Sailor Uranus first uses World Shaking in episode 90 against the Daimon, Mikuji. This first time it is done without the command, however. The name of the attack first appears in episode 92. When Sailor Uranus upgrades into her Super form, the stock footage for World Shaking is updated to match her new uniform.

She performed the attack by raising her hand above her head, streaks of energy gathered in her hand from the air. Uranus then closed her hand on it and a ringed sphere began to form. When the energy sphere was fully formed, she hurled it toward the ground in the direction of the target. The sphere moved through the ground, causing an earthquake, then rose above the ground, in accordance to the position of its ring, just before hitting the target.

Crystal[]

The first time it is used, the energy blast has the shape of "ringed sphere" and a yellow color, like the original anime which is used to kill Mimete. Sailor Uranus also this attack against the Sailor Moon, Chibiusa, the Inner Senshi, and Tuxedo Mask to warn them against getting in the way of her and Sailor Neptune's mission. Though how she used the attack and the effects on the group wasn't shown as Usagi is knocked out. She also used the attack in Sailor Moon Eternal in conjunction with Sailor Pluto's Dead Scream attack to free the Inner Senshi from the Amazoness Quartet's vines.

Sailor Uranus summons a plasma ball that creates a magnetic field that breaks and attracts rocks, then throws them to the ground, the ball flies in a straight direction causing an earthquake. After the enemy hits, an earth eruption.

Trivia[]

  • The kanji characters "天界震" (Tenkaishin) associated with this attack in the manga mean "the skies tremble."
  • The energy sphere with the vertical ring released by World Shaking is likely a reference to the planet Uranus, whose axis of rotation is approximately parallel with the plane of the Solar System, causing the planet to rotate along its orbit, thus being similar in appearance to this attack (save for colour).
  • The earthquake effect is related to the solar wind because the energy of the solar wind hitting the Earth's magnetosphere affects the entire environment as the pressure on the region increases and the magnetosphere sometimes contracts by four Earth radii. This sudden compression causes earthquakes in certain plates. The energy sphere in this attack is a magnetic storm.
    • In the course of a study of tidal effects on earthquakes, the astronomical positions of the planets have also been taken into account and a remarkable correlation between the positions of Uranus and the moment of great earthquakes has been established for a certain period.
    • This attack has caused some confusion because, despite Sailor Uranus being the Soldier of Wind and her mythological namesake being the personification of the Sky, it appears to be an earth-based attack.
  • The Cloverway dub sometimes adds Uranus to the original attack name calling it, "Uranus World Shaking."
