L'Ron was a Karbarran, member of the Sentinels. His wife was named Crysta, his son Dardo.
History[]
Sometime, L'Ron was taken captive by the Invid, and taken to the zoo ship later known as Farrago, along with his wife Crysta. After the Sentinels' uprising, he became the Karbarran ambassador, talking for them. He was one of the presents when the Farrago landed on Tirol, meeting there with the Robotech Expeditionary Force leaders. Later, he participated in the Sentinels' campaign to free Karbarra and other Invid-occupied worlds.
When the Farrago arrived near Karbarra, Rick Hunter planned a frontal assault, but L'Ron opposed to it, for reasons he was unable or unwilling to share. Finally, Hunter and L'Ron agreed to launch first a recon mision on Karbarra, led by Rick and with L'ron acting as guide. During the mission, L'Ron's reasons for his opposition were uncovered when his wife confessed than the Invid on planet keep hostage all Karbarran's cubs, including Dardo, L'Ron's son, but in a daring mission, the recon team managed to save them all. After the end of the war, he remained on Tirol, representing his people. When the REF Civil War began, he offered all his people's assistance to the REF Council, to rebuild the shattered SDF-3 and build more warships, an offer which was quickly accepted.
A year later, after the SDF-3 was rebuilt, he talked with Admiral Rick Hunter, and expressed his doubts about the sagesse of the REF use of new and unknown technology, as the Shadow Technology and the Neutron-S missiles. Rick admitted to share his worries.(Robotech: Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles)
Behind the scenes[]
- Carl Macek has stated in interviews that "L'Ron" was named after science fiction writer and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.
- Throughout the series, the spelling of L-Ron's name constantly changed from "L-Ron" to "LRon," as well as other alternate spellings. In his first appearance, Robotech II: The Sentinels Book 2 3: Pursued!, it was spelled "L-Ron," and in his last appearance Robotech: Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles, it was spelled "L'Ron." Like other characters whose names have inconsistent spellings (Jonathan Wolff/Wolf/Wolfe, Regess/Rigess) this wikia uses the version most used in post-2000 Primary Canon sources.
