Serena Dracroy (セリーナ・ドラクロイ) is a High Countess hailing from the Sacred Vollachia Empire. She is one of the most prominent nobles in the Empire, and she helped Priscilla Barielle into the Empire following the events of Arc 5. Furthermore, she played an important role in the second story featured in the spinoff volume Ex 5. She made her debut in Arc 7, playing a minor supporting role in it and Arc 8.
Taking her seat as a noble after ending her father with her own hand, Serena took command of the country’s famed Flying Dragon Squadron, one of the most elite units in the nation. She is also responsible for raising the Magical Sharpshooter and the current empress consort.
Appearance[]
Serena is a tall woman with a stocky physique. Her hair is of auburn colour, and she has a big scar on the left side of her face, which she received from an assassin sent to kill her in the past. She bears a long coat as her nobles' attire, but she prefers to place it atop her shoulders rather than wearing it normally.
Personality[]
The embodiment of the word fierce, Serena is a bold woman that talks with a kick to her voice. She is strong, prideful, and enjoys talking with others.
History[]
When she was a teenager, Serena became the head of her family. Her business required her to travel to the Kingdom of Lugunica, where she sought to resolve a dispute. However, assassins were sent to follow her to Lugunica in a targeted attempt to kill her. Before she could be killed, she was saved by several people, among them Roswaal L. Mathers, who found out that the assassins were sent by her father, Galahau Dracroy, who wanted revenge for losing his position. In the resulting conflict, she received her characteristic scar from one of the assassins. Upon defeating three of the assassins and convincing the fourth to turn against them for his survival, she would eventually return to the Empire, where she confronted her father. In the resulting conflict, it is said that Galahau carved a large scar onto her face, but she ultimately proved victorious and proceeded to burn him alive, which led her to be known as the "Scorching Lady"; because she received her scar from one of the assassins who attempted to murder her, the extent to which this story is true is unknown. Some time after these events, Jorah Pendleton helped her bring her family together as she was having a hard time doing so by herself.
Some time later, one of her subordinates, Miles, brought Flop and Medium O'Connell back to the domain with him, and they befriended Serena, viewing her as a benefactor. Some years after Flop and Medium befriended Balleroy Temeglyph when he decided to start raising the flying dragon Carillon, the two decided to depart from Serena's domain to fulfill their goal of "revenge". Balleroy opted to stay in Serena's domain and became one of her subordinates alongside Miles.
Seven years before the main story, Serena sent her servants Balleroy and Miles to the Pendleton Estate in order to invite Jorah and his wife, Priscilla, to the Gladiator Island Ginunhive. While they were there, the gladiators attempted to spark a revolution that would render the island independent from the mainland, which later ended up failing thanks to the intervention of the Imperial Army. After the group left Ginunhive and returned to Serena's estate, Priscilla thanked her for the invitation in the stead of her resting husband.
At an unknown point in time after Jorah's execution, Serena ordered Balleroy and Miles to look for Priscilla, as there was a rumour going around about some bandits who kidnapped a girl looking like her. The duo successfully found her and managed to bring her to the estate. Afterwards, Serena found a way to smuggle Priscilla out of the Empire and into the Kingdom of Lugunica.
Abilities[]
Excellent Strategist: Serena has shown to be an excellent tactician during battle. During the Defense of Garkla, she easily outsmarted the enemy commander and was able to fully counter his sneak attack.
Flying Dragon Squadron (飛竜隊, Hiryūtai): The Flying Dragon Squadron is an attack force owned by Serena. It is comprised of an elite group of flying dragons and dragon riders that possess complete mastery over the air. The current squadron under Serena is said to be the strongest it has ever been.[1]
