~ Lahkesis taunting Kratos while confronting him. |
The Sisters of Fate (Lahkesis, Atropos, and Clotho) are the major antagonists of the Greek Era of the God of War franchise. They are secondary antagonists of the 2007 video game God of War II.
They are beings who control the events of the Greek World and have the ability to rewrite time. When Kratos tries to go back to the past to stop Zeus from killing him and his army, the sisters try to stop him.
Lahknesis was voiced by Leigh-Allyn Baker, while Atropos was voiced by Debi Mae West and Clotho by Susan Silo.
What Makes Them Pure Evil?[]
- Since the beginning of time, they have been influencing events that have shown to have led to chaos, with Lahkesis and Atropos showing to enjoy messing with mortals.
- They told Cronos that he would be usurped by his child, leading to Cronos eating all his sons and daughters, with the exception of Zeus, who escapes this fate with the help of his mother Rhea and Gaia.
- They instigated the events of the Great War, leading to massive devastation that put the world of humans at risk. In the end, the Titans were sent to Tartarus to be eternally tortured, something that Lahkesis admits she caused to occur.
- For people to have an audience with them, they have to go through several challenges and riddles, all of which put the person's life at risk.
- By the time Kratos goes to meet with them, dozens have already been killed trying. Those killed in these challenges include Perseus, who wanted the sisters to bring back his love Andromeda, and Alrick, who wanted revenge on Kratos for killing him in battle.
- They instigate the acts of several characters and many of the atrocities seen in the earlier games, such as Ares' attack on Athens and Kratos' conquests that lead to the destruction and pillaging of cities. Later, they are also responsible for the murders of the soldiers in Rhodes and the destruction of Sparta.
- They brought Kratos to their temple to convince him to continue to serve the gods and give up on his quest for revenge against Zeus, and when he refused, they tried to kill him.
- Atropos decides to go back in time to destroy the blade Kratos used to kill Ares, planning on having Kratos die in the past so he would also die in the future.
- Furthermore, if Kratos fails to defeat Atropos in time before the blade is destroyed, a game-over cutscene where Ares succeds in kill Kratos will pop-up.
- Although they say that what they do is keep the thread of time in check, it's shown that they are doing this for their hunger for power and thrill of controlling people they deem beneath them, with this being especially shown with Atropos and Lahkesis.
- While Clotho mentions that Kratos' actions will bring the destruction of everything, this is likely out of fear to avoid her own death.
- They only see each other as valuable allies rather than sisters, with Atropos barely interacting with Lahkesis and Clotho not mentioning their deaths when confronted by Kratos, while Lahkesis is shown partially freeing Atropos so she can help her fight, with Lahkesis being remorseless when accidentally stabbing her.
- While Lahkesis is shown at first acting with a somewhat affable act, unlike her sisters, by the time he refuses to bow to her, Lahkesis drops any hint of kindness and starts insulting him by referring to him as a mortal.
