~ Oblivion's introduction. |
Kali'kak, also better known as Oblivion, is a major antagonist in the 1993 Milestone Media comic book series, Icon.
He is an alien obsessed with the concept of death and a criminal fugitive originally locked away for massacring hundreds of the Cooperative's species out of homicidal intent. Discovering Earth and death being inevitable for humans, Oblivion takes on killing the entire race until he is satisfied no matter how many are left.
He serves as Icon's archenemy, due to being responsible for sabotaging the latter's interstellar spaceship and the reason he got stranded on Earth in the first place for the last few centuries.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He has an unhealthy, academic obsession with death, studying both it and life to understand the concepts but more importantly wishes nothing else than to cause as much bloodshed as he pleases.
- Despite being sent to Prison Planet as part of his sentence to be exiled and rehabilitated due to his mental obsession with death, it's not portrayed as an excuse since his crimes are entirely motivated by boredom of his and his own people's longevity via reconstitution. As Arnus/Icon and Arnus II pointed out, Oblivion was incapable of living amongst society due to said mental issues, knowing it meant trouble if left unchecked. It's also worth nothing that the people he killed had nothing to do with his isolation, to begin with.
- Killed his therapist as his first murder, then went onto killing exactly 350 innocent civilians around the Cooperative. Although they were reconstituted later on, Oblivion's actions are still deemed criminal by the law.
- Tries to get revenge on Arnus for his isolation by sabotaging the interstellar ship he was in during his vacation, tampering with the ship's drive to overload in the process, endangering likely hundreds of passengers and Arnus himself on board. Luckily, all of them were rescued in time barred Arnus.
- Because of his actions, Oblivion is indirectly responsible for Arnus being stranded on Earth for decades and lived his life as a black man, who was once sold into slavery prior to breaking free and made a living for himself as Augustus Freeman and his own son.
- Discovering Arnus' survival and inhabited on Earth, Oblivion first impaled and killed two joggers in a nearby forest after crash landing. Confirming that death is inevitable to humans, he made it his one-man goal to wipe out all life on the Planet Earth with only his bare hands.
- Rampaged throughout Dakota City, where he was seen breaking into buildings, brutally killing two-dozen innocent people, attacking police officers, and destroying city blocks while suiting himself in a fashion similar to Icon as part of his omnicidal crusade.
- Broke into Icon's attorney office, killing several of his co-workers and trying to kill a woman out of spite.
- Tried to kill Darnice/Rocket II, mistaking her for Raquel Ervin (the first Rocket), throughout their fight.
- Impaled and wounded Wild Buck (the second Icon) to death in front of Darnice, resulting in the former's death while he was hospitalized overnight and the latter traumatized so bad she goes into shock when he followed her to Raquel's apartment.
- Threatened to use Rocket's screams as a message to Icon out of spite, then later tries to "publicly execute" her out in the open and soon suffocate her after their fight.
- He threatened to personally kill all of Rocket's loved ones and her baby son, Amistad, to spite her after death. It ultimately shows his willingness to commit infanticide with zero remorse.
- Mocked and tried to kill a bunch of bystanders in front of Icon to exemplify his belief on humans being easier to kill.
- Tries to suffocate Icon to death, and later using spikes to pierce him to death throughout his breakdown.
Trivia[]
- He is, so far, the only Pure Evil to be from the Milestone Media comics.
