Desert Tumbler is the overarching antagonist in Crystallic’s Starbound Trilogy. He serves as the secondary antagonist of Starbound: The Black Nebula, and a posthumous antagonist in both Starbound: Rise of the Stargazers and Starbound: The Glitch Empire. He is an outlaw with a split personality disorder, who kills just for fun, and enjoys the thrill of heists and murder. He was once Ethyl's partner in crime, until he betrayed him due to disapproving of the murderous path he was going down. He is also responsible for turning Ethyl into an outlaw.
His Evil Ranking[]
What makes him Pure Evil?[]
- He has done dozens of heists, robbed several banks and stolen from countless people.
- He manipulated Ethyl into being his partner in crime, by lying about his past, and pretended to be his friend. This ruined Ethyl's life by turning him into an outlaw instead of a protector.
- When Ethyl questioned him killing innocent people, he betrayed him by shooting his knees and getting him arrested.
- He has killed hundreds to thousands of innocent people, and attacked lots of villages/towns, simply because he enjoys it.
- When he was face to face with the black nebula, he unloaded dozens of corpses from his ships and dropped them on the floor just to make an example.
- He joined the Floran Extermination Order so he could kill more people, despite not being racist, assisting them in genociding the florans, not because he agreed with their views, but because he wanted to kill.
- He kidnapped Tori Spearleif and bought her to Mika Aikawa, taunting Katsu on his way out.
- He tried to stop the heroes from stopping Mika’s secret weapon, all while knowing that it would have killed an entire star system, merely because he wanted to assist in a billion kill count.
- After a while, he got bored of Mika telling him on when he could or couldn't kill, so he betrayed the Floran Extermination Order and began to fire on FEO agents, simply to show off his shooting skills to Robin and Lexie.
- He almost kills Robin Reklaw in the climax, shooting her close to her stomach, which could have fatally wounded her had he hit her stomach.
- Despite the series high heinous standards, Desert easily passes due to his lack of resources, sadistically assisting in destroying an either star system, and the devastating impact he had on Ethyl.
- While it is revealed by Ethyl that Desert got his disorder and insanity due to bumping his head during a heist, nothing indicates he can’t tell right from wrong, especially considering his great sadism and the fact that he was a bad person even before hitting his head.
- While he has numerous comedic moments such as his over-the-top shouting and spouting random nonsense in his crazy side, and sometimes in his calmer side, they are either subverted or just to show what a sadistic prick he is. Either way, he is still taken seriously during the story.
Trivia[]
- He is one of two villains from Crystallic’s Starbound Trilogy to be Pure Evil, the other being Xochtal Reklaw.
