Ernest Greeves, known as Miles Richmond is a main tritagonist and the main antagonist in Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy and its animated version. He is Katrielle Layton's assistant, keeping the agency in top condition and listening to Katrielle's every request. He seems to have a big crush on Katrielle. Ernest is known for being good at solving puzzles and being a scholar, and he received a scholarship to attend Gressenheller University, one of the top universities in England.

Ernest is a bit nervous, easily agitated, and often stands on the sidelines rather than stealing the spotlight. He plays his usual "shy scholar" character, a contrast to Katrielle's eccentricity.
He is an easily and agitated person, as evidenced by his reactions to various strange occurrences in the games and anime, and the way he blushes whenever Sherl teases him about his crush on Katrielle.
As the anime is connected to the game, Ernest is in love with Katrielle, but is extremely afraid of Katrielle's violent temper. It can assume that his demeanor was similar when he was younger, but he can't infer much from the little time his younger self is on screen.
History[]
Ernest first meets Katrielle after he is falsely accused of stealing the research of world-famous professor Dr. Jean Ohm. When he was being interrogated by Inspector Hastings, Katrielle immediately interrupted the interrogation and confronted the inspector on his behalf. After learning that Ernest was a first-year student at Gressenheller College, she accompanied him back to Gressenheller in order to prove Greeves' innocence as well as cancel out a little business she had at the college. After retracing Ernest's clumsy steps through goat dung, rose bushes, and bad luck, Katrielle is able to piece together that Ernest is innocent. Dr. Ohm was unable to finish his research, gave it to a goat, and then passed his responsibility on to Ernest. After Katrielle manages to clear her name, Ernest asks her to become her assistant, hoping to somehow repay her. Ernest's true name is revealed, and he's the grandson of Lord Maximilian Richmond. During his lifetime, Lord Richmond had discovered a large cache of diamonds, which he knew would be used to pay off large debts. He relinquished the diamond to the Seven Dragons of London in the hope that its wealth would be used for the city and his descendants. After the lord's death, Miles mistakenly believes that the Seven Dragons stole Richmond's diamonds rather than receiving them. In the wake of his mother's death, he swore revenge on the Seven Dragons. Miles took the name Ernest Greaves, studied at Gressenheller University, and worked as Katrielle's assistant. Part of his revenge plan is to disguise himself as the mysterious Lord Adamas and host a puzzle game between the Seven Dragons and Katrielle at Richmond Court, tricking the Seven Dragons out of their money and recovering what they lost. However, Seven explained that the money was for Miles to use for the city. After the events at the mansion, Miles continued to work for Katrielle, using the name Ernest.
