Instructed and supported by an all-female staff, mostly comprised of professional musicians, girls not only form calluses, but also cultivate a sense of community, learn to collaborate, and most of all, break the current gender barriers existing in music. At the end of the week, campers will have formed a band, written a song, performed live at a local venue and studio recorded. In the space that GRC provides, girls challenge their technical skills, cultural norms that inhibit women such as body image, self esteem and and a sense of personal power.
