Every night is the same as the last and is followed by the next and the one after that. The clock, and Gerry's well-worn routine, ensures that nothing ever changes: until something does. While the radio echoes out its pure, lonely melody on the top floor of the deserted building, Gerry enjoys his midnight snack and gets a chance to observe life as it passes him by outside. Then, unexpectedly, a light comes on in the building across the way. Joan (Niamh Shaw), a kindred spirit and seemingly just as lonely as Gerry himself, reads a romantic novel and wipes away a tear. In Joan, Gerry finds a beacon of light in the surrounding darkness. This is fate, this was meant to be...but will Gerry sacrifice everything else to win over the heart of a woman who does not even know he exists?
