Regine (レギーネ Regīne)? (Regina in the Canadian English dub) is the sole woman of the three Seeds of Darkness, and is the second to appear. Her human alias is Koyama Shouko (小山翔子 Koyama Shōko)? (Shyla in the Canadian English dub).

Bio[]

Appearance[]

True from[]

Regina wears a dark strapless bodysuit with magenta highlights. She has pale skin and pink hair slicked back into curls, which when she transforms into her true form, comically spring into place. When she fuses with her associates, Juna and Belzei Gertrude, the resulting figure is muscular like them, but also completely black and bald.

Human form[]

As Koyama, she's a brunette with shoulder-length hair, and has brown eyes.

Personality[]

As Koyama, she is shy and anxious, speaking quietly, to the point that others have a hard time understanding her, but she can occasionally make loud outbursts.

As Regine, she has a more stronger personality, being assertive and loud.

Etymology[]

Kyoyama (小山)? means small mountain, or hill.

Shoko (翔子 Shōko)? is made up of the kanji "shou" ()?, meaning to fly or soar, and "ko" ()?, meaning a child.

History[]

Trivia[]

  • She shares her English dub name with Regina from Doki Doki! Pretty Cure, whose name remains unchanged in the Glitter Force dub.
  • As the Seeds of Darkness are likely loosely based off the Four Symbols in Chinese mythology, this would mean Regine represents the Vermillion Bird as her civilian alias, Koyama Shouko (小山翔子 Koyama Shōko)?, has the "翔" meaning to fly or soar.
  • Her design would later be recycled to some extent and used for Viblis in the next season and Moerumba and Ms. Shitataare in Splash Star.
  • Since she charged up her powers using a volcanic eruption, her fights against Pretty Cure reflect this, though unlike Juna using wind based attacks, or Belzei Gertrude using electric or lighting themed attacks, the heat aspect is used by her Zakennas. This is similar to the elemental themes of the Uzainas summoned a couple of seasons later in Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star.
