Butler (バトラー)? is the Witch of Delays' butler, and the hidden main antagonist of Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure.

Bio[]

Appearance[]

Butler is a golden seahorse with a grey mohawk, multicolored horns and blue eyes. His outfit is that of a tuxedo, but without the pants. His bow tie is savoy blue, with a matching vest.

In his youth as a knight, he had blue hair, and wore a bulky yellow armor.

As a Yaraneeda, he becomes orange and gigantic, gains two curved multicolored horns, dark yellowish spiky hair, and additional head and hip fins. He also has visible teeth.

Personality[]

Butler is very calm and has quite the poker face. He can also be demanding of his subordinates. He is also rather cunning, knowing that the Cures' desire to protect Grand Ocean would cause the Marine Ring to appear so he can take it before they get the chance. He is later shown to be not only secretive like withholding important information from his subordinates, but also extremely cruel and is not above using them to accomplish his own goals.

In fact, he is dangerously ambitious, aggressive and evil, and he relishes in happiness when the world is endangered by his plan. He is also blindly loyal to the Witch, but shows no respect for her change of heart and instead inherits her abandoned plan as a way to do what he believes is best for her.

Relationships[]

  • Witch of Delays: He works as her butler, and orders the other servants to do things for her. He usually feels dread whenever she is furious. Deeply loyal to the Witch ever since he was a knight working for her, he is unable to accept the Witch's change of heart, going as far as becoming a Yaraneeda to destroy the world for her.
  • Chongire, Numeri, and Elda: His subordinates who he is quite strict and demanding towards. He also disregards their well-being, and is not above exploiting them for his own benefits.

Etymology[]

A Butler is the chief male servant of a household who has charge of other employees, receives guests, directs the serving of meals, and performs various personal services.

History[]

Butler makes a brief cameo asking the Witch of Delays what she is going to do about the Pretty Cure.TRPC01 Later on, he makes sure Chongire made the Witch of Delays' food, before telling him to steal some Motivation Power.TRPC02

Butler chases Laura who escapes from the mansion and attacks her, but loses sight of her afterwards.TRPC17

Butler receives another orb from the Witch, which he uses to summon the Chou Zettei Yaraneeda. He later witnesses the appearance of the Legendary Pretty Cure and how the main five Cures obtain the Tropical Heart Dresser and Land Heart Kuru Ring to perform Land Beat Dynamic.TRPC29

Butler and his subordinates infiltrate Grand Ocean, kidnapping the Mermaid Queen and creating illusions to lure the Cures into his trap. During the battle, the Cures' sincerity causes the Marine Ring to appear, but Butler steals it before they can even move, and leaves the Cures to get washed away as the dome of Grand Ocean is destroyed.TRPC36 However, he later loses the Marine Ring in due to the intervention of the Legendary Cure.TRPC37

Butler summons two Chou Zettai Yaraneedas to initiate his plan to release the Fool's Casket. After the Cures purify the weaker sharksucker Yaraneeda, he arrives with a much stronger blue whale Yaraneeda, which steals the Motivation Power of almost everyone in the city. The Cures follow him and he tells them about the Witch's attempt to destroy a town in the past. La Mer attempts to take the power back, but Butler blasts the Mermaid Aqua Pot out of her hands, damaging it. Summer then goes to try and take it back, only for her to be swallowed by the Yaraneeda. Her teammates also enter the whale to rescue her, but get expelled by its spout. Butler then retreats, preparing to destroy the city.TRPC42

Butler is delivering a plate of Motivation Power to the Witch, when Chongire tells him that Cure Summer is inside the mansion. Hearing a loud rumble from the Witch, Butler suddenly gets suspicious as he orders that Summer should be kept away from the Witch's room, before handing over the plate to the Witch. He also tells the Witch she need not to remember anything, as the Casket is full. As he unleashes the Casket, the Cures, along with Chongire, Numeri and Elda, all realize that he is suspicious. Upon hearing that Chongire disapproves of him, he forcibly turns Chongire into a Yaraneeda, much to Numeri and Elda's horror.TRPC43

Butler finally fills the entire Fool's Casket while the Cures struggle to fight against Chongire. He then scolds Elda for saving the Cures, before getting excited about the world's destruction. It turns out that he was the one who encouraged the Witch to destroy the human world, and kept urging her to keep fighting Oasis despite her constant refusal. He then encourages the Witch to destroy the world again, and admires how she is motivated to do so. Unable to accept that the Witch has chosen Oasis over him, he finally goes crazy and turns himself into a dangerous Yaraneeda, first by absorbing his subordinates' Motivation Power, and after realizing the Fool's Casket isn't actually full, he decides to target the Cures once and for all.TRPC44

Butler, intent on destroying the world, engages in a fierce battle with the Cures. Despite the combined efforts of Cures Chongire, Numeri, and Elda, Butler manages to overpower them. Refusing to accept defeat, the Cures unleash their most powerful attack, Super Tropical Paradise, which purifies Butler once and for all. Despite his defeat, Butler refuses to give up and offers his last bit of Motivation Power to the Fool's Casket, depleting himself of motivation. La Mer then uses the repaired Aqua Pot to absorb the Casket's motivation. As Summer hands the remaining Motivation Power to the Mermaid Queen, it disappears for good. Chongire, Numeri, and Elda decide to take Butler away with them to prevent him from attempting to destroy the world again.TRPC45

He is last seen still in a weakened state, and now is under the care of Elda.TRPC46

Abilities[]

  • Butler wields a cane and is very proficient in using it as a weapon. He can also fire energy blasts from it.
  • Like his comrades, Butler is able to summon Yaraneedas by throwing a ball of dark energy at objects to steal Motivation Power from humans.
