The Machine Onslaught Empire Matrintis (機械禦鏖帝国マトリンティス Kikai Gyoō Teikoku Matorintisu) are the third set of antagonists that appear in Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

History[]

Past[]

In 2500 B.C., there was a continent found on the Atlantic Ocean called "Matrintis" (マトリンティス Matorintisu). Matrintis was an ancient and peaceful civilization known for its impressive architecture, cities, advanced technology, and advanced culture. The people were known for their hard work, intelligence, and innovative thinking. However, 4500 years ago, a drastic change occurred in the earth's crust, leading to massive fires and earthquakes. The city sank into the bottom of the ocean, thus ending the civilization of Matrintis.

It was later revealed that there was once a scientist, who displayed enormous talent and created an immortal robot body, which caused his fellows keep distance with him. When the Earth's crust-shift occurred, the scientist decided not to save his fellows who asked for help, causing the whole race to go extinct.

Present[]

4500 years later, Robogog of the 10-sai created Metal Alice of the Agent as his right-hand man. Using Machine Fortress Terminel as their base, they started to develop Matroids to start their plan to conquer humanity. In the process, they utilized the appearance of Warstar and Yuumajuu to stall time in order to study about the Goseigers, later picking up the nest of Bibi Bugs to aid their plan. In the beginning, the Empire even tempts Gosei Knight not to interrupt their plan as they do not cause pollution towards the planet like the Yuumajuu did, but the plan fails after Gosei Knight renews his belief that protecting humans is equal to protecting the Earth.

After their attempts being interrupted by the Goseigers a few times, Metal Alice salvaged and remodelled Buredoran of the Chupacabra into their subordinates as Buredo-RUN of the Cyborg by removing his memory and reverse engineering his powers against the Goseigers. In order to make him a loyal servant, Robogog purposely punished Metal Alice heavily for her rapid failures to defeat Goseigers in order to install the feelings of fear into Buredo-RUN's mind. After learning enough about Goseiger's powers, Robogog begins his warfare to enslave humans. However, Buredo-RUN's primitive instinct has him using Metal Alice to regain his own memories and pretending to accept her invitation to escape from Robogog's domination together. Buredoran then uses the Goseigers to defeat Robogog, while betraying him and Metal Alice at the last moment, destroying Robogog's last resort to recover and Metal Alice's wrecked body, marking the destruction of the Empire, while Terminel fell into the hands of Buredo-RUN.

Later history[]

Etymology[]

The name "Matrintis" is itself a portmanteau of the title of the film The Matrix (マトリックス Matorikkusu) and Atlantis: The Lost Empire, which is known in Japan as simply "Atlantis" (アトランティス Atorantisu), referencing their origins from beneath the sea.

Notes[]

  • Of the Evil Spirits, Matrintis corresponds to the sea, being based on marine invertebrates and originating from an underwater civilization that sank beneath the waves.
  • Like both of their predecessors the Warstar and Yuumajuu, the characters that comprise Matrintis are named after films. In the case of the Matrintis, all associates' names come from hard sci-fi movies or at least films that feature robots/AI characters. Additionally, characters from the Matrintis feature at least one Latin-based letter that are an extension of the film they are named after, with sole exception of Robogog, who instead features Arabic numerals in his talent name.
