The power to manipulate what state of matter a substance is in. Sub-power of Matter Manipulation and Condition Manipulation. Combination of Plasma Manipulation, Gas Manipulation, Liquid Manipulation and Solid Manipulation.

Also Called[]

  • Matter Phase Change

Capabilities[]

The user is able to change the physical state/form of matter to a substance: For example from Solid to Liquid/Gaseous, Liquid to Solid/Gaseous, Plasma to Gaseous, etc.

This brings various results, depending on the user and his ability.

Weaker users, who can only change the states of matter, but cannot control it, have very "basic" uses, for example, the user could liquefy the ground to move faster over it, or by making enemies slip and fall or slowing them down. Change the air from gaseous state to solid, and using it as a shield to protect themselves. Converting gases to liquid to create for example water, freezing liquids to create solids. Freezing air to create ice, Transform the air into a gas or heating the air, even being able to create fire. Or convert Gases to Plasma or vice-versa.

Slightly more advanced users who can control the shape of the states/matter, and not just change them: They can use the terrain to move, attack or defend themselves, and by being able to give matter a definite shape, they could create objects at will: solidifying water and/or air and controlling their shape.

More advanced users could not only manipulate inorganic matter, but also organic, i.e. living beings, this opens a range of enormous possibilities, for example the user could change their physical shape at will, transforming into objects to camouflage, or animals to move faster, a bird to fly, etc. If the usar could also change their own Physical state, they could for example become intangible by evaporating himself (becoming into gas), or transforming into water.

Offensively the user could "deactivate" so to speak, the elemental intangibility (air, water, etc) of enemies by solidifying their element/matter, destroy their weapons and armor by disintegrating or liquefying them. The user could also disintegrate the enemy, Evaporate him, transform him into liquid, losing his physical form or simply deform his body. He/she could also remove or freeze the air from people, stop their blood flow by controlling his shape, or directly remove the bones, water and blood from their body by evaporating them, etc.

The most powerful users are also able to deform or warp the states of matter, making them different (Transmutation), for example not only can they liquefy the ground, they could also transform it into lava or acid, they could create poisonous gases by warping the air, they could make fragile wooden objects into hard steel objects, or make enemy weapons/armor more fragile by changing from metal to wood or plastic. As an offensive use, they could transform any part of the body into something else, killing the person, transforming their blood/water into poison/acid/lava, transform them into stone, etc.

This could even serve as a defense for the user, transforming their clothes into tough armor or their own skin, if they are poisoned, they could remove the poison by making it other type of liquid/gas, etc.

And many more uses in general. Of course, all this depends on the ability of the user, if he/she can only change the states of matter but not control them, or if the user can only change and manipulate one specific state of matter, i.e. only liquids or gases for example, or perhaps cannot affect living beings directly.

Limitations[]

  • The user may be only to change the states of matter of elements and not compounds or mixtures at a low level.
  • The user may only be able to change the state of matter once.
  • The user may be limited to one substance at a low level.
  • The user may not be able to create matter, only modify the existing.
  • The user may not be immune to attacks of the same kind.
