- "Look at me! I'm not even human anymore! I'm a... an elemental freak!"
- ― Rex Mason/Metamorpho (DC Comics)
The power to transform into or have a physical body made up of elements. Technique of Elemental Generation. Variation of Inorganic Mimicry.
Also Called[]
- Elemental Condition
- Elemental Entity Body/Mimicry/Physiology
- Elementling Body/Mimicry/Physiology
Capabilities[]
The user is made of or can transform their body into elements. This typically includes the classical elements, but it could also include exotic things like shadow, plant matter, or plastic depending on the setting. In some cases, transforming users may still retain their original anatomy (e.g., a humanoid shape and possible even internal organs) while changing only the composition of their physical form. Alternately, some users may transform into homogeneous matter, without any part of their form being more important than the other.
Some users are born and composed of their element, and these are often called 'Elementals'. Such users may simply be composed of elemental matter/energy and have no specific power over those elements, while others might have Elemental Manipulation tied to their nature. Elementals in fiction run the range from being mindless incarnations of flame to ancient and wise spirits, and they might take any number of forms. Depending on the setting, Elementals may additionally be classed as spirits, gods, genies, fey, or any number of other such beings.
Applications[]
- Elemental Aura
- Elemental Energy Manipulation
- Elemental Entity Creation (Through reproduction)
- Elemental Flight
- Elemental Generation
- Elemental Hair
- Elemental Intangibility
- Elemental Magic
- Elemental Manipulation
- Elemental Movement
- Elemental Shapeshifting
- Elemental Solidification (Especially common for gaseous or insubstantial Elementals that might not otherwise be able to grab things.)
- Elemental Soul (In most fiction, elementals lack souls, but if they do have one it may be affected by their nature.)
- Redundant Physiology (Only in cases where the elemental/form is a homogeneous mass.)

Associations[]
- Amorphous Physiology
- Elemental Physiology
- Elemental Spirit
- Genie Physiology (Genies in myths are made of plasma, as derived from the translation of "smokeless fire".)
- Golem Physiology (Golems can be seen as similar to elementals but are distinct in that they are artificial.)
- Inorganic Mimicry
- Reforming
- Scattering (Some users are able spread their form over vast areas.)
- Size Manipulation
- Spatial Mimicry
- Thermal Resistance
Limitations[]
- Some users may not be able to return to their original body/form.
- May only be able to mimic substances they can touch.
- May require constant contact with element to stay in transformed state.
- Opposite elements may contradict each other.
- Clothes and equipment may not shapeshift with the user.
- If the user is rendered unconscious, their body might automatically transform into their normal state.
- The user is often subject to all effects that affect the material they are made of.
- If composed of reactionary elements, the user can be rendered inert at sub-zero temperatures due to chemical reactions ceasing at that point.
- The elemental form may have different needs than a normal human - for example, a fire elemental that needs to constantly be burning things.
- Elemental Negation - may actively and physically harm the user.
- Elemental Immunity - the user may be unable to affect targets with the proper immunity.
