As an archetype, a divine fool is a deity (god/goddess), angel/demon/higher spirit who represents or is associated with Foolishness, Fools, Mockery, Ridicule, Jokers, Comedy, Comedians, Satire, Stupidity, Forgetfulness, Ignorance and Incompetence. They are generally worshiped by jesters, fools, comedians, idiots, and those who seek to ridicule and mock someone or something.
They are worshiped to be comforted or to vent their frustrations. The entities may even be considered a fool by both their worshipers as well as their fellow deities. Divine fools were rare in mythology and weren't as important to the civilizations that worshiped them as other divine entities were.
