The Metal Coat is an item introduced in Generation II.

Effect[]

When a Pokémon hold this item, the power of all of their Steel-type moves is increased by 20%, or by 10% in the Generation II and Generation III games.

Onix and Scyther can evolve into Steelix and Scizor when traded while holding the Metal Coat, respectively.
