What is Art? is the third Forky Asks a Question short.
Synopsis[]
Mr. Pricklypants tells Forky about the complexities of being an actor and the art of performance.[1]
Plot[]
Forky introduces Mr. Pricklepants and asks him what art is. After Mr. Pricklepants defines art, Forky repeats his question, to which Mr. Pricklepants responds by giving examples of art forms.
Mr. Pricklepants asks Forky to repeat his response back to him, and Forky imitates Mr. Pricklepants' response using similar-sounding words. Mr. Pricklepants compliments Forky's use of mimicry.
Mr. Pricklepants offers to teach Forky about acting, and Forky accepts Mr. Pricklepants' offer. Mr. Pricklepants then explains what an actor does.
Forky asks Mr. Pricklepants if his arms are the same length, but Mr. Pricklepants cues Forky to start acting. Forky then says, "No, thanks. Bye," and walks away from Mr. Pricklepants, who thinks Forky has ended his lesson. Forky comes back and tells Mr. Pricklepants that he was just pretending, and Mr. Pricklepants compliments Forky for successfully tricking him.
After Forky talks about having tricked Mr. Pricklepants, Forky talks about his left arm seeming to be longer. Mr. Pricklepants expresses his disappointment in Forky, and, in response, Forky talks about why Bonnie created him.
Mr. Pricklepants compliments Forky while pretending to sob. When Forky asks Mr. Pricklepants if he is pretending, Mr. Pricklepants stops pretending to sob and replies, "Yeah. Pretty much!"
