Alexander Mitchell Palmer

Alexander Mitchell Palmer is the attorney general featured in the side story, "Malice and Madness" where he is sought by both the Hellhounders who wish to assassinate him, and the entity known as Vaxyl, who wishes to use him for his own schemes.

Heading the Palmer Raids in which various hyphenated Americans, and suspected Socialists, Communists, and Anarchists were targeted, raided and arrested, this makes him a target for the Hellhounders.

However, shortly before he is due to attend a motorcade with William J. Burns, and John Hoover, he is stopped by a woman looking for her purse, which had fallen under a car out of her reach. As soon as his fingers grasp the purse, he loses consciousness.

His next memory was of a strange man standing over him, informing him that for the last few days his body had been possessed by a demon, whom the man had managed to exorcise. Puzzled, but believing him, Palmer made his way to the office of John Hoover, who greeted him with suprise - as the last he saw of the man, he had joined the motorcade before running off into the crowd and vanishing.

Palmer relayed his strange tale, drinking prohibited whiskey as they mulled it over, before offering up a toast to the Bureau of Investigation.
