- Panel 1
Julia: So…your friend's god told him that you need to talk to Xykon's goblin lackey and convince him to switch sides?
Roy: Sort of. Yeah.
- Panel 2
Julia: Are you going to…do that?
Roy: I guess? I mean, hopefully.
Roy: I can't imagine why he'd listen to us, but that sort of detail has never stopped one of our plans before.
- Panel 3
Julia: You know…it doesn't sound like Xykon is really needed for all this god stuff.
Julia: If you destroyed Xykon first, you could turn around and offer this "Redcloak" terms of surrender from a position of strength.
- Panel 4
Roy: …That's not a terrible idea.
Roy: I was thinking we were going to need to beat him into submission first, but knocking off his lich buddy might be enough of a shock to get him to listen by itself.
- Panel 5
Julia: See? And you thought I was too dumb to help.
Roy: I never thought that, Julia. I was just surprised you wanted to.
Julia: …
- Panel 6
Roy: To be perfectly honest, I am not comfortable with the way this whole thing has taken a turn toward all the gods and goddesses and whatever.
Roy: I've got this sinking feeling their roles are not exactly aligned with ours.
Roy: a lot of supposedly benevolent deities opted to throw all of us under the cosmic bus when push came to shove.
- Panel 7
Roy: All I know is: my top priority is saving this world and these people.
Roy: If what we're doing helps the gods break their cycle too, then cool.
- Panel 8
Roy: But if I need to take down Redcloak to protect everyone, I will.
Roy: The gods can find some other way to talk to the Dark One once the last Gate is safe.
- Panel 9
Julia: Yeah, you don't work for t hem. The Gods are just fancy alien wizards who figured out how to crowdsource their magic.
Roy: Yeah, I remember Dad telling me that, too.
- Panel 10
Roy: I think that's probably one of the only good things he ever instilled in me, honestly.
Roy: That the gods don't deserve any special deference solely because they're powerful. If they can judge us based on our actions, we should be treating them according to their own.
- Panel 11
Julia: Huh.
- Panel 12
Julia: Seems like he would've been better served long-term by teaching you to never question the authority of those who created you.
Roy: Oh, it totally backfired on him personally, but it was still a good lesson.
