Straw Hat Space (麦わらスペース,Mugiwara Supēsu?) is a voice actor audio commentary series broadcast using Twitter Spaces. It was created during the one-month hiatus of the One Piece anime in March–April 2022. The first four volumes were aired as live commentary for simultaneously re-run anime episodes, though the commentary itself was pre-recorded. Live broadcasts began with Vol. 7, with all subsequent issues being live broadcasts except Vol. 13.
After the 18th episode, the Straw Hat Space program transferred to a radio show on Nippon Broadcasting System to celebrate the anime's 25th anniversary and Nippon Broadcasting's 70th anniversary. It began airing every Sunday night, with each episode being 30 minutes long.[1]
Kazuki Yao (Franky) was absent due to poor health. No announcer was included. Recorded live at One Piece Day '24, and edited into two standard broadcasts.
As promotion for every Straw Hat Space episode, the official One Piece Twitter account would tweet out an announcement, accompanied by a variation of the Chapter 475 color cover from Color Walk 4. Beginning with the Nippon Broadcasting episodes, this was replaced by unique art of the hosts of the episode.
