For the species behind Dressrosa's belief in fairies, see Dwarves.

Fairies are a non-canon race appearing in Luffy and Chopper's Secret Adventure.[1]

Appearance[]

Fairies resemble tiny humans, slightly smaller than a dwarf.[2] They have glowing wings on their back, with which they can fly.

Homeland[]

The fairies appear to live on a small, unnamed island in Paradise. The island contains a giant clock-shaped volcano, with two smaller clock-shaped mountains to either side of it.[1] For unknown reasons, time flows differently on the island, the speed of which is controlled by a small magic pocket watch. Turning the hands of the pocket watch turns the hands of the volcano watch, which appears to dictate the current time on the island.[3]

Somewhere on the island is an old tree with clocks hanging from its branches. Embedded in its base is the Door of Light (光の扉, Hikari no Tobira?), a magical door that allows those who use it to travel through time, both the past and future, and across space, to various events around the world. However, the events play out slightly differently than they did or will, with extra people and objects that are not originally present.

The Door of Light appears to be a tightly guarded secret, and the tree it's embedded in is not even always visible, sometimes appearing as a normal tree.[3]

History[]

The gold pocket watch that controls time on the fairy's island became damaged, causing time to proceed faster on the island. Lacking a material to repair it, a fairy travelled into the Door of Light to find the necessary part.[3]

One Piece Picture Book[]

While travelling in the Door of Light, the fairy was seen by Luffy and Chopper, who followed him in.[1] They followed the fairy through the different places and times he visited, including events that had yet to occur, until he eventually left.

When the fairy saw them leaving the Door of Light, he panicked, and instructed them not to tell anybody about the Door of Light due to its secrecy. He then repaired the pocket watch, correcting time on the island.[3]

Trivia[]

  • In Dressrosa, dwarves are very often compared and referred to as "fairies" due to their diminutive sizes and tendency to pick up random objects for themselves, but are otherwise unrelated to real fairies.
