Tomokazu Sugita (born October 11, 1980) is a Japanese voice actor who is best known for the Nintendo community as Chrom in Fire Emblem Awakening and the Super Smash Bros. series. He is friends with Yuichi Nakamura, who also had involvement with Nintendo and work together in various anime and games. He mainly plays young men and is characterized by his "deep bass voice," and he often performs ad-libs and imitations.
Outside Nintendo, Sugita is best known for his roles as Gintoki Sakata in Gintama, Young Joseph Joestar in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Kyon in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ragna in BlazBlue, Tadaomi Karasuma in Assassination Classroom, Gundham Tanaka in Danganronpa, Charlotte Katakuri in One Piece, Akuru Akutsu in Aho Girl, and Escanor in The Seven Deadly Sins.
Biography[]
Sugita made his voice acting debut as a gift announcement narrator for Kamen Rider on SKY PerfecTV! in 1998. Sugita played the leading roles in both Gintama (Gintoki Sakata) and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Kyon), greatly increasing his fame. In 2009, Sugita won the Best Actor in supporting role award at the 3rd Seiyuu Awards and Male Voice Actor Award at the "Newtype x Machi★Asobi Anime Awards 2013" in 2013. On April 1, 2020, Sugita left Atomic Monkey, the company he had been affiliated with for many years, and established AGRS Inc. with Kai Itō, a lawyer well versed in the entertainment industry, as an advisor and himself as the representative director.
