The Thousand Year Door is an ancient doorway in the Rogueport Sewers under Rogueport in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. It is the central focus for the story in the game as Mario and his party must collect the Crystal Stars to open it to find where the fabled treasure lies.
Inside The Thousand Year Door is the Palace of Shadow where the legendary treasure sleeps that caused the cataclysm. The treasure is guarded by the spirit of the Shadow Queen , who was sealed away by the power of The Thousand Year Door, exactly 1000 years before the events of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, hence its name.
