Television Friend Channel G-Guide for Wii Start Screen, March 2008

The Channel's Banner

TV No Tomo Channel G Guide For Wii. (JP) (Television Friend In English) was a Japan-exclusive Channel that let you browse a TV guide. You could also use your Wii Remote as a TV remote using it, a feature that apparently would have been used on the Wii Menu but was scrapped. You could rate programs and send out alerts 30 minutes before a program starts via an email or text message. You could also use a stamp to mark programs that interest you. This Channel used G-Guide from IPG.

The channel was exclusively launched in Japan on March 4, 2008 and was available as a free download on the Wii Shop Channel. It was designed mainly for use on analog television sets, as they did not provide their own Electronic Program Guide. It was never officially released outside of Japan.

The Channel ended its services on July 24, 2011 in accordance to the end of analog broadcasting in Japan.

WiiLink is working on support for this channel in the future.

The Television Friend Channel G-Guide for Wii was succeeded by the now discontinued Nintendo TVii service, which was available for the Wii's successor, the Wii U.
