Nintendo New York is a shop owned and run by Nintendo in New York City, New York, first opened in 2001 as "The Pokémon Center".
The store sells video games and merchandise of Nintendo IPs and third-parties.
Overview[]
The store is a two-floor, 10,000-square-foot building located in Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Shoppers are greeted by statues of Mario characters. On occassion, statues of other Nintendo IPs would appear in-store, especially to promote an upcoming game.
Playable kiosks of Nintendo's current sytems are available for visitors to play demos of select games.
On the second floor, a giant screen which lets shoppers play games on is displayed. Trailers are sometimes shown on the screen, as well. In special occassions, Nintendo Direct presentations are shown to attendees in limited quanities.
There is an area where My Nintendo members can check-in and earn points as they shop.
The display of all of Nintendo's entire system and toy library is located on the second floor. There is also a display of all Amiibo figures.
Products sold are divded by franchise, including Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Splatoon, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Kirby, and Pikmin.
Launch events of games and/or systems are frequently held at Nintendo New York, typically at midnight.
