Dragon Quest X: The Five Awakening Races Online (JP) is a Square Enix published video game for the Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch. It is the successor to Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS, and was announced during a Dragon Quest conference on December 10th of 2008. The game is a "massively multiplayer online role playing game", or MMORPG. The story is set in a new world, Astoltia, featuring five continents and six playable races. The six races are Human, Ogre, Elf, Dwarf, Puklipo, and Weddie. Players will start as a human character, but after a certain point in the game, the character will become one of the other five races. The game was released in Japan on August 2, 2012 for the Nintendo Wii and will required the use of a USB flash drive with no less than 16GB of memory, which was be available in a bundled edition of the game. The game was be spread over two Wii discs. An online connection is required, and players in Japan were charged a fee for 30, 60, or 90 day periods.[1]
