Cat Mario is the form Mario takes by using a Super Bell. He originated in Super Mario 3D World but, has appeared as his own character in some of the Mario spinoffs. The other playable characters in Super Mario 3D World have their own counterparts including Cat Peach and Cat Rosalina.
Appearance and Behavior[]
Mario is clad in a cat suit similar to Tanooki Mario. It has yellow fur with a white belly and paws. The end of the tail is also white. He has pink in the cat ears and on the paw pads. The Lucky Cat Mario version adds a red collar with the ability to transform into a gold statue holding a coin similar to a Beckoning Cat
As Cat Mario, he behaves more like a cat, walking and running on all four limbs. He will still jump like normal though. He has the ability to do claw swipes, climb up walls and Goal Poles, perform a dive attack from midair and a sliding attack from running. Lucky Cat Mario can transform into a Gold Cat Statue similar to Tanooki Mario's statue with the additional effect of creating coins as he falls based on height.

Super Mario 3D World (2013)[]
In Super Mario 3D World, Mario can obtain the Super Bell which turns him into Cat Mario. The Super Bell is in the game's very first level, Super Bell Hill.
Bowser's Fury (2021)[]
In Bowser's Fury, Cat Mario can turn into Giga Cat Mario with the Giga Bell. His default form turns into Giga Cat Mario when the player collects all the Cat Shines. Once he has collected all 100 Cat Shines, his suit becomes spiky and more glowy, resembling his Giga Cat form.
Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition (2015)[]
Cat Mario appears as an ally in Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition.
Super Mario Maker (2015)[]
Cat Mario makes an appearance in Super Mario Maker as one of the Mystery Mushroom costumes.
Super Mario Odyssey (2017)[]
In Super Mario Odyssey, a Cat Mario 8-bit sprite can be found at certain areas in all kingdoms. He will give the player 10 coins when hit with a cap.
Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)[]
Cat Mario appears in the Super Mario 3D World style of Super Mario Maker 2 with the use of a Super Bell. He has similar abilities as 3D World with the new ability to climb semisolid platforms. Weird Mario appears in this form as one of the Warp Door easter eggs in the 3D World style as well.
Mario Kart Tour (2022)[]
Cat Mario was added to Mario Kart Tour on June 1st, 2022 as a part of the 2022 Cat Tour. His special item is the Super Bell and he is one of many Mario variants. He is a high-end tier character and debuted alongside Cat Luigi.[1]
