Banpresto Co., Ltd.(JP)(CN) was a Japanese toy company, and a former game developer and publisher, headquartered in the Shinagawa Seaside West Building in Shinagawa, Tokyo. The current iteration of the company was formed on April 1, 2008 It was partially owned by Bandai and eventually turned into a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings. with the focus on the toy consumer business. The company was dissolved in February 2019 and combined to Bandai Spirits, with the company getting all the rights and duties of Banpresto.

History[]

Banpresto's predecessors were Hoei Sangyo Co., Ltd.(JP) (April 1977-April 1982) and Coreland Technology Co., Ltd.(JP) (April 1982-February 1989). When Bandai acquired a stake in Coreland in 1989, it was renamed Banpresto. Banpresto became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings on February 23, 2006.

The last video game Banpresto published was Crayon Shin-Chan: Arashi wo Yobu Cinema Land; Banpresto would be fully integrated into Bandai Namco Games shortly after.[1] Banpresto's game development subsidiary, Banpresoft, would merge with BEC to form B.B. Studio in 2011. Banpresto itself would eventually merge into Bandai Spirits eight years later.
