The 20th Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards were held on March 31, 2007 at the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California. Justin Timberlake hosted the ceremony, which was watched by over 6.1 million people, making it the highest-rated KCAs up to that point.
Throughout the show, Timberlake made a point of "breaking the slime barrier". The stage was packed so full of slime that parts of it would leak as the show progressed. Viewers could vote on Nick.com for how they wanted to see the barrier be broken: sliming an entire section of the audience, having "Sucko" the Elephant spray slime from his trunk over the audience, or activating the slime geysers under the stage. In the end, the slime geysers won.
The telecast was preceded by the premiere of the SpongeBob SquarePants episodes "Born to Be Wild" and "Best Frenemies".
