Leadership Matters is a series of six events, held throughout the year and hosted by Seven West Media for business and professional decision makers. Curtin University has been the presenting partner of the Leadership Matters event series over many years.

The guest speaker for the final and sixth event in 2024 was the Honourable Roger Cook, Premier of Western Australia. This video is presented by Professor Melinda Fitzgerald Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research at Curtin University.

Australia’s demand for a skilled STEM workforce is rapidly rising as the nation strives for a net zero future, resilient supply chains, and enhanced national security. STEM roles are expanding at over twice the rate of non-STEM jobs, with 75% of the fastest-growing occupations requiring STEM skills. To meet these demands, Australia needs a new generation of innovators to drive progress in key areas including energy, mining, space and defence. Curtin is answering this call with the Future Sciences Building – a $350 million investment in infrastructure to scale up Australia’s STEM talent and produce vital research and technology outcomes.
