The Cat is the main protagonist of Stray.
He is an orange tabby cat that after finding himself in unfortunate circumstances that causes him to be trapped underground, he discovers the companions along with B-12, who proceeds to assist him throughout his adventure.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite only being a cat, he has clearly shown to be very intelligent, with him being able to pull off many stunts, seemingly being able to perfectly understand English, and clearly understanding B-12's objective of getting to the surface with him assisting the robot in allowing the other bots see the outside.
- Saved both Clementine and B-12, with B-12's save requiring him to avoid many Sentinels which could kill him in one shot, meaning he willingly risked his life to save B-12.
- While he did have a paint bucket dropped onto the front porch of Kosma and then proceeded to steal his Super Spirit Detergent, this was required in order to progress in the story and to help Momo, allowing the ends to justify the means.
- When they were surrounded by Zurks, the cat proceeded to pick up an inactive B-12 and ran away, effectively saving both of their lives.
- Reunited Seamus with his father figure Doc, which required him to put himself into enemy lines, with a high chance of death.
- Ultimately played a major part in killing the Zurks, deactivating the Sentinels, and allowing the companions to finally see the outside after several decades.
- While it could be argued that he is only performing heroic acts for pragmatic reasons, for one, nothing in the game proves this, and two, he is clearly shown to build a genuine bond with characters like B-12 and Clementine, thus not making him careless.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite clearly being smart, he still lacks characterization as he is still a cat, with no real personality being made out from his actions. That being said, he expresses love for his family and sadness when B-12 died.
- He can be slightly mischievous, such as when he ruined the board game that two companions were playing.
Trivia[]
- He was initially proposed but rejected for Near Pure Good due to it being that that he was simply a normal cat that possessed zero moral agency, however, it was after it was pointed out that he did appear to possess a great amount of intelligence, and thus moral agency, he was ultimately re-proposed and approved.
