Gzar Theodore Malik is the posthumous overarching antagonist of Psychonauts 2. He was the former Gzar of Grulovia whose actions lead to the creation of the dangerous Psychic Maligula and his son Gristol Malik becoming the main antagonist of the sequel.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He was a brutal dictator who oppressed and exploited his own people so that his own family could live in luxury.
  • Rigging the countries elections so that he and his clan the Grulovian monarchy would continue to be in power.
  • Rather than do anything to solve the citizens problem, He turned an innocent psychic Lucrecia into a murderous psychopath known as Maligula in order to keep himself in power and act as an enforcer to crush any uprisings. One which accidentally killed her own sister and brother-in-law which was what made her finally snap becoming the infamous psychic that flooded the country.
  • He pretended to be thankful for Lucrecia's assist during the war but harbored envious hatred of her, due to her being more popular amongst the people than he was.
  • When his actions resulted in Maligula's destructive behavior, he quickly showed disloyalty out of fear for his own safety and secretly ordered his executioner to do kill her.
  • When he realized he couldn’t kill her and that she was now going to destroy all of Grulovia he along with the rest of his family fled the country leaving all his citizens to suffer from her wrath.
  • Overall, despite that he is long dead before the start of the series the actions he took against people of Grulovia protesting against his leadership caused Lucrecia to become Maligula, and cause untold destruction and death that would lead to the events of both games.
  • When compared to the other major antagonists such as Coach Oleander and Dr. Loboto who experienced tragedy in their backstories and eventually redeem themselves, Gzar Theodore is shown to be nothing more than a despicable tyrant.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • Despite his tyrannical rule he did love his family as he was initially grateful to Lucrecia for saving his son from enemy soldiers and had them escaped with him when they went into exile for fear of Maligula and the eventual coup against him.
