NOTE: This article is only about Ganon from the Philips CD-i series as the mainstream Ganon is not voted Near Pure Evil, thus only information on CD-i Ganon should be put here.

“ In the darkest nightmare hour, when not moon nor sun has risen, I take Zelda in my power, I shall keep her in my prison. „
~ Ganon while kidnapping Princess Zelda.
“ Join me Link and I will make your face the greatest in Koridai. Or else you will die. „
~ Ganon's famous phrase.
“ You dare bring light to my lair?! You must die! „
~ Ganon's second most famous phrase

Ganon, the Prince of Darkness, is the main antagonist of the Phillips CD-i Zelda games, Link: The Faces of Evil, Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, and Zelda's Adventure.

He was voiced by Mark Berry.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He and his minions seized the island of Koridai, leaving Link to save the island before it's too late.
  • He had his minions turn several people turned into ravenous monsters.
  • He kidnaps Zelda and holds her captive in his lair.
    • In Faces of Evil, he lets one of his minions, Glutko, eat innocent Koridians.
  • He kidnapped King Harkanian, Link and several other people.
  • He tricked Lord Orduk into giving away all of Gamelon to him.
  • He froze Fairy Mountain, which is the life force of the forest fairies, causing tons of people to freeze to death until Zelda thaws the mountain out.
  • He then had the Three Witches attempt to cover the entire forest in darkness.
  • Although he's considered to be quite comedic, it's only unintentional as most of the comedy comes from the game's stilted animation and awkward voice acting. In-universe, he's played completely straight and is taken seriously as threat. Also, this is absent in Zelda's Adventure, in which he transforms into a beast and becomes much more evil.
  • He kidnapped Link, and then began exerting his influence over the lands of Hyrule and Tolemac.
  • The main reason why he stands out is because all other villains' crimes are either bog-standard or under his orders. His act of turning people into monsters makes him to stand as the worst villain of the CD-i Zelda games.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He suffers from off-screen villainy, given Ganon doesn’t do much evil acts directly, mostly just the people who work directly for him that may or may not be under his orders. Also not much of the chaos Ganon and his minions cause are shown, with only one fairy being frozen, three people being turned into monsters, and Glutko only eating, at most, 2 people.
